toes_in_sand Posted August 13, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 13, 2014 Looking to book a cruise in November, will be either the Liberty or the Conquest. What is the better ship to be on? Previous sailed on the Dream as well as 2 Princess and 2 MSC cruises. Thanks for any input:D
k2excursion Posted August 13, 2014 #2 Share Posted August 13, 2014 (edited) If you like the nighttime shows, avoid Conquest. They use Playlist Production shows, which have no live music, are only 30 minutes, have no props, & use only 4-8 performers who kind of sing & kind of dance. It will be very disappointing for you after what you had on the Dream. The Liberty will still have the same style shows that Dream had. Liberty & Conquest both have the new burger place (which has become some peoples' only reason to go on cruises:rolleyes:) & the new burrito place. So any positives about Conquest are also on Liberty, but Liberty has the better shows. It seems that Liberty has consistently been getting the best reviews of any Carnival ship over the whole 5 years that I've been on cruisecritic. We like the Conquest class and have been on them all except Conquest which we are going on end of this month. Agreed essentially the same ship but playlist leaves a lot to be desired. toes_in_sand Posted August 13, 2014 Author #4 Share Posted August 13, 2014 What is this playlist? Having sailed 2 MSC cruises (Divina back in May, and Poesia last year) no other North American cruiseline can even come close to matching their shows (IMHO). If we move to a week later the options are Glory or Freedom.

Having sailed 2 MSC cruises (Divina back in May, and Poesia last year) no other North American cruiseline can even come close to matching their shows (IMHO). If we move to a week later the options are Glory or Freedom. Playlist Productions is what Carnival is calling their new style shows, which utilize absolutely no live music, enabling them to get rid of a band & save money. If you think of a playlist, it's a list of songs, and you just press play. That's what these new shows kind of feel like. Very little true "production" goes into it. It's just a playlist. The performers try hard, but they're not given much to work with, & they're asked to do way too much. The value suffers, & the shows are very short. Many people don't think much of Carnival's old style shows (still on half their ships including Liberty), but these Playlist shows are a massive step down from those. Both Glory & Freedom have Playlist, although it sounds like they tried to tweak these shows on Freedom.
SkyMaster Posted August 13, 2014 #6 Share Posted August 13, 2014 No question in my mind! Sail "Liberty"! Great shows aboard, with a ten piece live band. She does have the 2.0 food upgrades, so you can have that Guys Burger on the way to a FANTASTIC BIG production show. ;) "SKY"
