MountainEarsFamily Posted August 20, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 20, 2014 We have just returned from our first Disney cruise and we booked 2 more! So needless to say we LOVED it. One cruise is in November 2015 and ports in Key West. We will have a 10 yr old and 6 yr old and wondered which excursions would be best with kids. Any suggestions? Thank you! moki'smommy Posted August 20, 2014 #2 Share Posted August 20, 2014 (edited) Key West is totally easy to do on your own, and some things are better on your own. If you do the trolley tour with DCL, it is a loop around the island with commentary. If you do it on your own, it is that + a hop on, hop off so you can stay and visit anything you wish. There is a pirate museum, a small aquarium, a CVS pharmacy that sells almost everything you might have forgotten, lots of active excursions, etc. Also, you cell service works here since it is a US port. DISNEY FANTASY Posted August 20, 2014 #3 Share Posted August 20, 2014 Walk to Southernmost point, go to Hemmingways house, take the road train, have key lime pie, visit sloppy a jokes for a drink. All close all fun, Pirate museum took about five minutes and wasn't worth doing. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
wdwlvr Posted August 20, 2014 #4 Share Posted August 20, 2014 I agree with doing the trolley tour on your own. We rode it down to the Southernmost Point (around the far side of the island) and then walked back from there. Did the lighthouse, Hemmingway's House, Butterfly exhibit. Stopped in some shops and had a great time.
ducklite Posted August 20, 2014 #5 Share Posted August 20, 2014 Agree with the others, I'd DIY Key West. I've been there a handful of times, never on a ship. Parked the car and walked everywhere. The Hemingway House is really cool, and depending on the interests of your children, the Little White House was interesting as well. (Our some is a huge history buff, so at six he would have loved the LWH, not all kids will though, as it can be a bit dry.)
