Getting to Port From Hotel Miami

Im deciding on a hotel fro my cruise in Miami 9/27. Is it really necessary to use a precruise package. The one where i get transport to hotel and then to the port and breakfast? Im going on the NCL Getaway, and I know that food will be available when you board. So I can grab a quick bite before I head over to the ship. Cant I just uber or taxi or any other suggestions to get there? Is it really worht spending extra money for a package? I can get the same hotel room cheaper. But then still have to pay to get to the port.

Any suggestions?

You do not have to buy the package from the cruiseline. It is very easy in Miami to book your own hotel, take a taxi from the airport to the hotel and then from hotel to ship. Many of us have done this numerous times.

A cab from the Bayside area of Miami (close to the port) will run in the $12-15 range....most hotels have breakfast either in the hotel, or within walking distance. Have a late breakfast, get a cab and head to the port around 11am or so.
