sky suite vs. concierge class

WE were in a suite on Celebrity Galxy July25th We had fresh flowers and could order anything on the menu for breakfast that we wanted.
Yes, but WHAT menu? Did it include "eggs with asparagus" and "fruit smoothies"? If so, you'll be one of the first to verify a CC menu has appeared in a Suite. If not, that's the whole issue at hand here.

Would you happen to have a copy or could you post a link to that "online CC menu," which you said you printed out sometime ago in one of your earlier posts? That would be very helpful to us.

Also, my husband's not the one who's partially disabled, it's me, and I've already notified Celebrity's Special Services of this. They were wonderful to me on our last Celebrity Cruise to the British Isles and Norwegian Fjords, and went way beyond the "call of duty" to accomodate me.

I'm awaiting word from our travel agent who's making inquiries regarding the disparities in amenities between the CC category and the CS category and will post her response ASA I have it. Our agent is one of Celebrity's largest customers and has very good connections, so her response should be very interesting!

Best wishes,

B.J.

Depending upon how your browser is set up for FTP, the following link may work for you. Have had mixed responses from users on this. If it doesn't fly, drop me a line at "earl dot anderson at comcast dot net" and I'll email you a copy.

No, the fruit smoothies wer NOT available, but any type of egg dish was. I eat yogurt for breakfast so only mu hubnad ate anything hot. I was able to get mixed berries which are not available from regular room service. I had Cappochino regualrly as well as espreso. for no additional charge. I do not know if that answers your question!

Thanx for trying, Canderson, by posting the link to the CC Menu...

I tried AOL's browser, IE 6.0 and Opera's browsers, none of which would open this .pdf file, (got "this page cannot be displayed" for all, in one form or another), so the E-mail file you mentioned would be greatly appreciated! (Sent you an E-mail with my addy) :D

Gary - where in Ft. Lauderdale do you hail from? My parents had a condo there at Sunrise East Apts., for many years, which we just loved, (they're now in Jupiter, at Palm Beach). Great city, Ft. Lauderdale! Will you and your wife be on our cruise (Transatlantic/Baltic-4-28th to 5-20th)? :)

Sincerely,

B.J.

Hi B.J.

I wish I was on the Baltic cruise. I am on the Alaska cruise Sept 2.. I lived by Las Olas for 20 years. I sold my property their and retired in April on my 49th B'day. My life partner and I bought a home on top of a mountain in Asheville,NC and we are just loving it. After 3 months of remodeling and landscaping we are ready for this cruise.

  • 2 weeks later...

Well, I finally got a response from Celebrity's "Resolution" Specialists Dept. (who I was "to'd" to about a week ago), regarding the disparity between the CC amenities and the "Suite" amenities.

They confirmed that "the folks who book suites will NOT receive the CC amenities", with the following verbatim explanation (rofl) :

"The reason Celebrity introduced Concierge Class, was that Celebrity wants their CC passengers to experience what their Suite passengers experience."

(That's a good one, isn't it?!?!) :D

I was also told (when I inquired as to where various storage areas were in our forthcoming suite), and asked some other questions regarding the lay-out of the suite, about the CC menu, and what type of pillows and mattress we actually would have, that "they can't guarantee any answers to these questions", because they, (the Resolution Specialists), "have to E-mail the staff aboard the Constellation to ask them these questions, and they can't guarantee any answers, because their staff has to take care of the passengers already on board." I was told that the onboard staff "answers questions like mine after hours, between 12 and 1 A.M. on their own time."

I think it's sad that the Celebrity's "Resolution Department" is not trained or qualified to answer questions of this nature, and one has to wait weeks while in the process of deciding what stateroom/suite to book, for information of this type, with the very real possibility of losing whatever accomodations we'd finally decide to take! I'm still waiting for answers to questions that will affect our final choice and this is what I was told, and I'm certain that due to the time element, we'll lose any aft CC staterooms that may be left for this cruise, by the time the Constellation staff sees fit to answer my queries...

AAAaaarrrrrrggggggghhhhhhh! :(

The answers are all there on the website. They tell you exactly what is included in each category. As has been explained , it depends on your butler-cabin attendant what kind of extra service you may receive. You need to make your decision based on what the website says and if you receive anything over and above that just count yourself lucky. It's really not that complicated.

When I called Celebrity last fall concerning Concierge Amenities vs Suite Amenities, I was told that by this fall, all suite passengers would also receive the Concierge Amenities. From what I am reading here, this is not the case. I am booked in a Sky Suite on the Infinity for September 3. As I did on my last cruise, I will write on the menu what I would like for breakfast whether it is on there or not. Last cruise, I always received what I asked for. I also order and pay for flowers to be in the suite. The extra space in the suite and the usually expert butler service, more than make up for the few little things we do not get that Concierge Class does.

We have also found that if you are respectful and kind to your butler almost anything is yours for the asking. We do inform them at the beginning of the cruise what we expect of them and what is important to us and what is not. I think they appreciate knowing beforehand what pleases us most.

We also ordered and paid for fresh flowers for our suite - we like having them around. Althought the silk flowers on display and for sale on the ship are the best I have ever seen. There will be some of those in your suite also.

Regarding the amenities, we asked the butler if he could get us a 'pillow menu' from CC and he did, but there are only four choices, so we stuck with the down pillows already in the suite.

I keep calling for the butler from here at home, but I get tired of waiting and have to do it myself :p Be careful you will be spoiled by the level of service!

Kathy,

Isn't that hot chocolate from the cafe extra? Perhaps that's why you got the instant!

I agree with alot of you...I was told, on a 3 way with my TA, that the CC on Millie had a seperate lounge for our use with treats throughout the day. Was also told we had priority em/debarking AT EACH PORT. This is why I booked my cruise. AND HAVE LEARNED HERE IT'S POPPYCOCK!

As to MA: The questions they are asking re: type of bed and bedding in suites is not available on X's website that I can find. So if you know the answers, for dear sakes, provided them so maybe they have a better chance at booking the cabin that best fits their individual needs.

I haven't traveled with X for 10 years. I was on them when they were owned by X and then 1 time after they were bought by RC. The difference was astounding. Judging by my experience with customer service (and the reports here) I may well rethink my med. cruise!

Thanx, guys, I will take your as always, good advice. I was just somewhat ticked off by the department's lack of knowledge, particularly since they call themselves the "Resolution" Department...

I found the early embarkation and debarkation to be the best part of the "amenities" offered in the concierge class. When we embarked on the Infinity in Buenos Aires last January it came in really handy since they had huge problems. There were at least 1,500 people on a LONG line trying to embark - we were on the ship early, had lunch and then found out at dinner that many passengers had to wait up to 5-6 hours to embark. One couple left their luggage at the pier with the porters and went back to to city to shop, came back 3 hours later and still had to wait 2 hrs to get on the ship!!! Hope this is helpful.

This is my second posting on this subject today. On reading all of these posts, could it be that suite pax on C-class vessels are treated differently from suite pax on M-class vessels?

We had a RS on all three of our previous cruises on Celebrity, including a cruise on Century in February. There was always a fresh flower arrangement on the coffee table in the living room when we first arrived. My DW and I have an entirely different idea about pillows, and we asked our butler to see what else was available - they were brought immediately. We had an expanded breakfast menu, and were able to order anything we desired and received it - and our butler set our dining room table just as it would be set up in the dining room. Our butler on all three cruises took my DW's gown and had it pressed, and shined my dress shoes - is this available to CC class pax?

We always had priorty with respect to our dining room seating, the same with embarkation and debarkation, and were always provided with little cards granting us priorty with respect to the tender.

Phony flower arrangement in M-class royal suites - ugggg! Guess we will stick with Mercury, Century and Galaxy, because our experiences on them in a RS is quite different from those expressed in this thread.

On Mercury, my DW was ill runing a temperature, so we had diner in our suite on several nights. Again the table was elegantly set, and the meal was served course by course. The menu was the dining room menu and not the room service menu.

DogMommie, the reason I made the comment about receiving the instant hot chocolate vs the Cova Cafe hot chocolate is that on another thread--which occurred after my return from the Millie--a poster there said that since the suites received complimentary cappucino, etc, that when they requested hot chocolate, their butler got it from the Cova Cafe. Since I was in a Royal Suite, I assume that the same would have been true for me, but we didn't know to request it and the butler didn't do it automatically.

Cechase, you could be right about the difference in amenities/treatment such as flowers being reported from those staying in the Royal Suites are due to C class ships vs M class ships.

The Concierge Class menu no longer contains the Sunrise Fritatta. I was disappointed.

I've read on cruise critic that the chocolate in Cova is also from the packets, so who knows for sure? It would be free with any room service, so whether it came from Cova or the dining room it would be the same???

We just returned from 12 night Galaxy to Panama Canal.

We had a Royal Suite, friends had Sky suite and other friends had CC.

After reading this thread, I can understand why some are confused about the amenities. X's website does not state things correctly as well.

Just so you all know, friends in Sky suite did not receive flowers. They simply asked their butler and he brought flowers. We (Royal Suite) had a small Christmas tree delivered on the 3rd day of the cruise. Sky suite did NOT get a tree and asked for one and of course, our wonderful butler brought it to them. For some strange reason, Royal Suites get flowers and Sky suites do not get flowers as this happened on the Summit as well last May.

As to Room Service menu, the suites menu specifically states on them, suites room service. We like Eggs Benedict for breakfast and it is not on the menu...we wrote it down and whala, it was delievered. One time, a guest of ours wanted steak and eggs for breakfast. We wrote it in and it was delivered.

As to pillows and matresses....one of us slept on the sofa bed in the living room. After first night, found that the matress was too thin to support the metal rod in the sofa bed. We talked to our butler and they immediately brought a very thick pad to go over the matress and correct the problem.

Our experience with X has been, if you are not happy with something, you simply must ask and they will do everything to make you happy.

For the individual who is confused whether to take sky suite or CC, I would suggest you take the sky suite for the added room. Don't pay attention to the website, just ask for what you want and you will get it.

Happy Sailing to All!:)
