maestrotim Posted August 30, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 30, 2014 Does anyone know if vermouth is something you can order in a bar setup? I hadn't seen it on any of the lists that were circulating through the boards. I like to drink Manhattans and it doesn't sound like it would be something they would let me carry on. Maybe by paying corkage, if they consider it wine, which technically it is??
coyboy1971 Posted August 30, 2014 #2 Share Posted August 30, 2014 Here is a list I received from the Norwegian Concierge to make selections for the Pearl. Vermouth is on this list: Grant’s Blended Scotch Whiskey Smirnoff Vodka Jim Beam Bourbon Seagram’s 7 Crown Bacardi Superior Rum Cazadores Blanco Tequila Dry White Vermouth Sweet Red Vermouth Harvey’s Bristol Cream Sherry Sandeman Reserve Port Jameson Irish Whiskey Kahlua North & South By Norwegian, Sauvignon Blanc California North & South By Norwegian, Merlot California Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

time2cruise1 Posted August 30, 2014 #4 Share Posted August 30, 2014 (edited) I would bring a small bottle of sweet vermouth and pay corkage. A better plan might be to go to the bar and get a glass of vermouth neat. You can make a number of manhattans from that. Also consider a few airplane miniatures tucked away in your checked bag. The basic one I have from 11/2013 is: These alcoholic beverages are sold as Bar Set Up amenity orders. Available on all Ships excluding Pride of America. Please Note: Pricing from Nov. 2013 Bar Set-Up is available for all stateroom categories. Bar Set-Up is available for purchase onboard but you will be charged 15% on top of the price of the bottle instead of the $3 service fee. Bar Set-Up must be pre-arranged before the voyage and can be requested up to the day prior to sailing. Prices are subject to change. Service fee of $3.00 per bottle will be applied. 1.800.327.7030 Bourbon/Whiskey Seagram's 7 Crown $80 1 Ltr Jack Daniel's Black $100 1 Ltr Crown Royal Special Reserve $100 750 Ml Cognac Courvoisier VS $120 750 ml Rémy Martin V.S.O.P $100 700 ml Gin Beefeater $80 1 Ltr Bombay Sapphire $100 1 Ltr Liqueurs Baileys Irish Cream $100 1 Ltr Southern Comfort $100 1 Ltr Disaronno Amaretto $100 1 Ltr Godiva Chocolate $100 750 Ml Grand Marnier $100 1 Ltr Kahlua $100 1 Ltr Rum Bacardi Superior $80 1 Ltr Captain Morgan $80 1 Ltr Scotch Whiskey J&B Rare $80 1 Ltr Glenfiddich $100 1 Ltr Chivas Regal $100 1 Ltr JW Black $123 980 Ml Tequila Cuervo Gold $80 1 Ltr 1800 Reposado $100 750 Ml Don Julio Reposado $120 750 Ml Vodka Smirnoff $80 1 Ltr Absolut $100 1 Ltr Absolut Citron $100 1 Ltr Absolut Apeach $100 1 Ltr Grey Goose $120 1 Ltr Grey Goose L'Orange $120 1 Ltr Grey Goose La Poire $120 1 Ltr #+#+#+#+#+#+#+#+#+#+#+#+#+#+#+#+#+#+#+#+#+#+#+# If NCL is charging $80 bucks a bottle of Vermouth sweet dry red white that is highway (seaway) robbery. Buy your bottle off ship and pay the wine corkage fees or use the little airline miniatures or TSA 3-1-1 to make the drink of your taste choice. A vodka martini for me - a 750ml bottle of vermouth could last many voyages as I only need to open the bottle and blow across top to cause a vapor to settle on the vodka. For a manhatten this would be a great deal different requiring a shot glass or more to fashion a suitable tasting drink - a 750ml bottle would provide 18 shots and of course YMMV. If you don't find a liquor that caters to your drinking fancy just call that 800 number and ask if they have it i.e. Canadian Club is not listed but it is available ! REMEMBER BAR SET-UP MUST BE DONE PRIOR TO SAILING !

don't-use-real-name Posted August 31, 2014 #8 Share Posted August 31, 2014 (edited) Let me correct a post I made earlier: REMEMBER BAR SET-UP MUST BE DONE PRIOR TO SAILING ! Not correct - can be bought on board at any time ! That is the least expensive way to buy the Bar-Set-Up with only $3 charge for each bottle. You can buy the Bar-Set-Up on board but it will cost more with the 15% gratuity I.E. a $80 bottle bought pre cruise costs $83 ($80 + $3 = $83) bought on board it costs $92 ($80 + 15% ($12) = $92 Bottle(s) bought PreCruise will be in your stateroom upon boarding - I don't know how it works buying onboard - imagine that the cabin steward may come into play on this - if doing this method ask questions. tarps14 Posted August 31, 2014 #9 Share Posted August 31, 2014 (edited) Also it should be pointed out, the list "cowboy1971" posted is the list for the Garden Villas, deluxe Owner's suites, and owner's suites complimentary bottles. The list that "dont-use-real-name" posted is for a true bar setup that any category of cabin can purchase. And, just in case it gets asked, anything on the true bar setup list can be substituted in for the ones on the complimentary list, however, in most cases, there will be an upcharge for the substitution. I realize you didn't ask about this, however, it's nice to have the specification for those possibly doing a search and being led to this thread. don't-use-real-name Posted August 31, 2014 #10 Share Posted August 31, 2014 Thanks tarps14 for the input and clarification - - - While the cowboy1971 did not indicate that he was in a suite (owner-haven-garden) I should have caught the clue: Here is a list I received from the Norwegian Concierge to make selections for the Pearl. The concierge getting involved - he was not in an ordinary cabin ! And the booze he was not in just a suite but an owners-garden-haven suite ! Suites get sparkling fizz water and the owners-garden-haven suites get a complimentary selection of liquor.

don't-use-real-name Posted September 1, 2014 #12 Share Posted September 1, 2014 Never mind saving money: smuggled liquor just tastes better.Always has, always will. Beware the NCL booze Police. But smuggled liquor while it tastes better is a crying shame when it gets trashed or confiscated ! And remember "God helps those that help themselves - But God help those who get caught helping themselves" ! Rum runners damn the torpedoes full speed ahead ! Yo Ho Ho - "16 men on a dead man's chest" and a bottle of rum !
