willowvacay Posted September 1, 2014 Author #51 Share Posted September 1, 2014 Countess thanks! Glad you liked my review :) You are right we were escorted down to illusionarium. Forgot to say that part about being escorted down...because I forgot about it! Ruth took us and other haven guests down the back elevator and we got to be in before everyone else. We got a front row seat and everything :). It was one of the many awesome perks. For the other theater shows there was not an escort but the haven seating area is blocked off and you just sit right in there. EMMOM Posted September 1, 2014 #53 Share Posted September 1, 2014 Willowvacay - Hi thanks for your great review, I am trying to talk my husband and the sons 20 and 16 to try the getaway. We have cruised Disney and Carnival and we love carnival. I want to try the getaway, but I have a couple of questions for you I hope you can answer. Did you happen to notice if they have the free ice cream machines up on the lido deck, and are they open 24 hours? Carnival has 4 of these and they are awesome :D:D. Also, do they have any kind of late night snacks or food offered for free? My husband and kids love carnival and they enjoy having options they can eat late at night  thanks for any information you can give me. happy cruzin Posted September 1, 2014 #54 Share Posted September 1, 2014 Willowvacay, Thank you for the review! We will be sailing on the Getaway January 31st 2015 (Super Bowl Weekend), we have the Aft Penthouse Suite 12904. :D I know it is not in the Haven but we still have the perks. I have read so much about the Aft Suite and Haven we just had to do it. We will be first time NCL cruisers always RCL or X. When you went to the Magic show the first night were you not escorted down since you were in HAVEN? That is one show I do not want to miss. Also, I laughed out loud with your Abso-freaking- lutely statement! :p That just put the final endorsement on sailing in Haven. We always sail in suites but not Haven style. Thanks again for the review, thoughts, comments and observations. :) We had 9316 - Haven Aft Penthouse - on the Breakaway and never felt that "not being in the Haven" was ever an issue. We love the aft and the views - those cabins (and the Haven perks) just elevate it to a whole other level! Wouldn't trade the view - or that balcony - for anything. Here is a link to my fb photos of the cabin. You do not need a fb account to see the photos. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10201028887301742.1073741827.1154291247&type=1&l=22213e86c7 Actually we enjoyed the walk to the Haven because we got to see more of the ship that way. We were in the Haven Courtyard on the Epic (our first cruise with NCL) an never left - except for dinner and the shows. So am and sure there are things on that ship we didn't even know we missed! We love that aft location SO much we have the same cabin (H6) booked for the Getaway and the Escape. ;) :D

They have soft serve (self service) and I know it was open in the late evening because I got some after a show one night. They also have ice cream they scoop while the main buffet is open. The buffet is open for snacks (pizza, chips and salsa/queso, hot dogs, etc) in the evening until 11 or midnight but there is also a restaurant called osheehans with wings, onion rings, mozzarella sticks, etc that is open 24/7. Hope this helps! Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Cerveza777 Posted September 1, 2014 #56 Share Posted September 1, 2014 Howdy Willowvacay! Thanks for your review! Did you spend time at the beach at the Marriott in St. Thomas? I was wondering what it was like. Thanks! Sharon
meltingmoments Posted September 1, 2014 #57 Share Posted September 1, 2014 Really enjoyed reading your review and checking out your pictures! We were on the 9th August sailing and loved it!! Totally agree about the welcome back from NCL at each port......other ship's passengers looked on with envy...and rightly so! :)

happy cruzin Posted September 1, 2014 #59 Share Posted September 1, 2014 (edited) Thanks so much for pics of "our" cabin :) Was the champagne a gift from your travel agent? IOW, this category of Haven suite doesn't qualify for a free bottle of anything, does it? Did you email or call ahead of time and submit any special requests like a lot of posters have suggested? ~Denise You're right - no hard liquor is included until you are in the top tier of suites. And some of those include more bottles than others! ;) But we - just like willowvacay - have always had the champagne (sparkling wine) and a large bottle of water included with our Haven suites. Chilled and ready to go upon our arrival. Enjoying that champagne during sail away - as we passed the Statue of Liberty - on the Breakaway was very special! :D Edited September 1, 2014 by happy cruzin

willowvacay Posted September 1, 2014 Author #61 Share Posted September 1, 2014 Howdy Willowvacay! Thanks for your review! Did you spend time at the beach at the Marriott in St. Thomas? I was wondering what it was like. Thanks! Sharon Well unfortunately we did not. We planned on it but then since the day there was short for us (all aboard like 1530 or 1600) we decided to head back to shop in port instead. Wish I could fill you in on beach but I do know it's a long walk. Sorry. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

We don't like champagne :( Not a big deal either way since we did book during the FREESOME promo and have the UBP. But I still like a glass of wine on the balcony, etc. Have had the NCL house wine before (Tisdale) and I know it's meh... but sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do :) ~Denise

Maybe someone else can confirm or deny. But I would think definitely worth asking....the worst they can say is "no" - right?? ;) Edited September 1, 2014 by happy cruzin
