NCL GEM- lines at excursions in new england?

On the ncl gem's new England cruise in a few weeks. Unsure to post it under NCL or new England so I will do both. Noticed at Bar Harbor the Gem tenders. There are 2900 people on the gem. The Lulu lobster boat takes 30 people, meaning about 1 % of the passangers of the Gem would fill up that tour.

Also in that port, but perhaps it applies to others, there is 1 spot to get the bus that comes every 15 minutes. Wouldn't that be swamped with huge lines? I am talking the free bus route 1 that picks up people to go to the visitor center... 50 people per bus, every 15 minutes... do the math and if just a 1/3rd of the passengers wanted the free bus that would take all day.

so are people taking these types of busses and tours? Are there long lines of people waiting for the bus at Bar Harbor? (I will post this on new England also).

So we go to Newport. Bus 67 takes people by and to the mansions... again, every 20 minutes, 50 passengers, got thousands on board... if only 10% went on a do it yourself tour and take the public bus 67, they couldn't get everyone over and back, and you add in non ship riders..

Its early in the morning here.. am I worried about nothing? Who has recently been to Bar Harbor or Newport.. again, both tender towns, both with public transportation, and my question is- are there long lines of people waiting for that next bus?

Thanks...

Dear camasidaho,

Bar Harbor , Me. is such a wonderful , dog/animal friendly port of call.

We try to take the animal friendly boats which cruise the area waters. Maine is such a wonderful State and Lobstering is a Profession handed down in families for scores of decades now. Ask any Lobsterman about Yellow Lobsters ( Rare ) . I think the last was in R.I. .

In Newport it is a beautiful place. Near the Mansions you as well have the Walk ( FREE) the buses leave when you arrive on shore to the left , go to the Visitor Center get a ticket , a day card allows you also to take any bus as many times as you want. So yes not only Newport you may plan too.

On buses and transport in both places it is a normalcy to have cruisers now.

Have a wonderful time on your cruise. N.England and the Canadian Provinces are wonderful as the inhabitants are as well.

GOD Speed to youall!

I work for the public transport in rhode island and can tell you they add as much unscheduled service as they can. the schedule may say every twenty but in reality there will probably be extra. the problem is boarding the buses, they take cash and give no change. the charge is $2 per trip or $6 for a day pass, again no change cash only. without traffic its only a 10 minute ride ,again without traffic. if you are a solid walker its a thirty minute walk probably longer as there's plenty to shop and see along the way
