Luggage--Alaska Cruisetours

We are taking a cruisetour and celebrity for the first time in June. Was confused by a question on the Alaska forum.

 

Someone asked what size carryon to bring on their cruisetour. That the size is limited... I was under the impression your land luggage traveled with you from stop to stop and your cruise luggage you didn't see until on the ship.

 

So, why the need for a carryon as well?

You are right, your cruise luggage stays on the coach for the duration of the land portion and your land luggage travels from stop to stop. But, you need to put your land luggage outside your hotel room by a certain time each day and often it is pretty early. A lot of people keep a carry on for last minute items, makeup, toiletries, sleep wear, meds, etc. along with electronics.

 

The coaches have over head storage that will hold a fair size carry on but if you are traveling by train you have to keep it on the floor by your feet, so they don't recommend a very big carry on.

 

We also had the option of leaving a carry on on the bus while traveling by train because the bus takes you to and meets you at the train station.

And if you discover you left something you need in one of the stored cruise bags, the driver or tour director will find your bag and pull it out for you. You can either take the bag or just open it to find what you need.
