Tangiers,????

One of our port of calls is Tangiers,I dont know how safe it is so would prefer to take a Thomson Trip,does anyone know of a trip that is not a lot of walking bue seeing the sights from the coach,or as anyone got any advise,Many thanks

Type 'cruise' into the search box at the top of the page, and all threads containing the word will appear. There's lots of sound ideas.

It's safe enough for DIY - but the vendors etc. will pester you persistently.

 

We had a local try to attach himself (to our party of four) as a guide and would not take no for answer, following us around for about 15 minutes until "advised" in plain language to desist.

 

The cruise was intended for Casablanca, but due to having lost a lot of time joining a search for a man overboard from a P&O ship the captain had to reschedule.

 

We'd been to Tangiers years before and so had no great interest in going ashore except to have a casual walk around.

 

IMO it's the worst port of call we've yet visited and, if possible, I would avoid any future itinerary that ventured there - or stay onboard !!!

 

Having said that, if you've not been before and you want to tick it off the bucket list I would suggest an organised tour - it'll cut down on the hassle, although it won't eliminate it.

Remember the 6 hours of doing figure of 8s well searching for the body off the Aurora. We had never been to Tangiers before and had a walk up to the town. Constantly hassled by the vendors so didn't really stay long. Not sure if we would get off the ship if we went there again, if we did it would have to be a tour.

Tangier is not somewhere I would choose to visit again.

 

We are docking there in November so have booked the Thomson trip to Tetouan

Oh man.......that's like finding out as a child that Santa Claus isn't real !!!

 

I was looking forward to meeting Bogart and Bergman etc. in Rick's Bar.
