cruisetrail Posted September 7, 2014 #26 Share Posted September 7, 2014 Well, these days I find the fanstasy class ships do look a little awkward, or different, but that would not stop me from sailing on them. My thoughts exactly.:)
A2Mich Posted September 7, 2014 #27 Share Posted September 7, 2014 I will breakdown by categories: Classic Design: Fantasy Class Playground at Sea: Sunshine Best Overall: Style and Lines: Tie - Conquest and Dream Fantasy is by no means a classic design. The Fantasy class, appearance wise, are larger versions of the Holiday, Celebration, and the Tropicale. The Tropicale was ridiculed when it was first launched for being ugly and boxy. Classic ships had sweeping lines and long, graceful arcs and curves in their designs. They didn't look like they were engineered from a Lego set. They also weren't built block by block, assembly line style like today's ships are. The only reason that I could even concede that the Fantasy class is classic, is because modern naval architects have it in our heads that ships are supposed to be boxy and rectangular and look like floating apartment buildings. They won't tell you that the real reason that ships look like they do us to maximize onboard space. I personally find most modern cruise ships to be mostly unattractive. I just liked the classic lines and designs of the older ships better. Sent from my LG-LS980 using Forums mobile app
