Shopping security

I have read numerous warnings about not leaving property in vehicles unattended due to the efficient prowlers on the island.

We plan on renting a car for our cruise day in port and I want some advice on how to keep what I plan on buying, without donating it to the local street economy.

Are there lockers or some secure storage near the ports? Is it easy to run back on the ship to drop off bags?

Any suggestion would be appreciated. We will be arriving Sept. 7 on the Caribbean Princess.:)

Just put your purchases in a lock car trunk. Don't take anopen jeep and you should be ok. I'vebeen there 4 times and never a problem. Common sense should prevail.

NEVER leave anything in the car, in the locked trunk or otherwise. A locked trunk DOES NOT deter thiefs. Your best bet is to return to the ship to drop off your purchases. Another option is to do your shopping at the end of the day.

NEVER leave anything of value in your car and that includes the trunk !

You have 2 choices:

shop first thing and then return purchases to ship

shop last thing before you return to the ship

Personally I would shop last thing.

Never leave anything in your rental car. Not even in the trunk. Consider anything left in your car fair game for the local thieves. They know rental cars are easy pickings. Save your shopping for the afternoon or have your packages back in your cabin prior to any excursion around the island via rental car.

Thank you everyone for the advice and information. I like the option of having the shop hold or deliver the purchase for the larger items. I plan on shopping later in the day and then just carry everthing back to the ship.

I'm expecting a wonderful time on the island and give credit to those willing to share their experiences :) !!
