Here on the lower coast there are still lots of black bears around, I have seen a couple lately but the scat would indicate that there are lots that I am not seeing....at that's just fine with me. Putterdude Posted September 23, 2014 #11 Share Posted September 23, 2014 Now I have never asked a bear, but that would make sense; the bears are stoking up on fat for their winter hibernation and the salmon arrive in the streams loaded with fat to begin their journeys to the spawning grounds.
