L&J Posted September 23, 2014 #1 Share Posted September 23, 2014 Is it possible to get a family photo at the photo stations that are set up before/after dinner? I don't want to have to book a private session (I assume there's a cost?) but we'd really like a nice color-coordinated group picture because we've never done it. I don't want to hold up the line, but it's likely quicker than our 4 families going separately anyway. Has anyone done this?

fmrlkr Posted September 23, 2014 #3 Share Posted September 23, 2014 We had 11, just walked up on formal night to a backdrop we liked, the photographer took his time and we got great pictures. The only problem we had was the group included 3 couples, 4 kids and one grandmother. My husband is 20 years older than me so the photographer wanted to put my husband with my friends mother as the center of the picture.
SadieN Posted September 23, 2014 #4 Share Posted September 23, 2014 We do it all the time. The atrium stairs seem to be very popular with large groups. One cruise the photog got us in order than ran away. He appeared on the next floor and took our pic from above.
crazyfrazee Posted September 23, 2014 #5 Share Posted September 23, 2014 CCL loves money and the photographers are very nice eager to please people. They will make it happen.
CruzinScotty Posted September 23, 2014 #6 Share Posted September 23, 2014 Depending on the photographer and the backdrop; your group may be too large for it to come out. Our picture came out great; but it's really JUST the 13 of us - no room for a backdrop. The best place for a LARGE group is the "grand staircase" in the Atrium. I've got a GREAT one from there. We did ours just after dinner on the first Formal Night. We happened to be in that dining room, we had ATD which put us right there. We did this on the Dream, and also did 11 on the staircase on the Liberty the year before. Good luck and hope you pic comes out great!
L&J Posted September 23, 2014 Author #7 Share Posted September 23, 2014 Thanks everyone. I didn't think of the staircase. Good idea! A plain colored backdrop or sky/sunset would probably look better than a busy backdrop that'd get covered up anyway. Does anyone want to post examples? mom2ajk Posted September 23, 2014 #8 Share Posted September 23, 2014 We have had 3 group cruises and they have always did them on the stairway. One pic has 15, one 19, and one there are something like 40 people in it.
Herbaltees Posted September 23, 2014 #9 Share Posted September 23, 2014 We want to schedule a photographer for our cruise. Is there a cos to schedule a session? If what is the cost? Can the photo be taken off the ship? I was thinking HMC? thanks in the advance.
BigRed93 Posted September 24, 2014 #10 Share Posted September 24, 2014 I think there are 17 of us in there? We tried it from the bottom, but someone was always in the shadows, so we went higher and the photographer went to the top floor and took it. Ehpride Posted September 24, 2014 #11 Share Posted September 24, 2014 I've always seen large groups having pictures taken on the atrium stairs. They may not have a photographer set up there on casual nights, but I've seen it every time on elegant nights. jcearth Posted September 24, 2014 #14 Share Posted September 24, 2014 No cost for a photo session -- just go to the photo desk and ask for a session, and they will work out the times for you.

Crazymasons Posted September 30, 2014 #16 Share Posted September 30, 2014 Do the photos cost more from a private session?
Momma1980 Posted September 30, 2014 #17 Share Posted September 30, 2014 Do the photos cost more from a private session? Private sessions offer you pictures in a package. The packages start in the hundreds of dollars.
didugger Posted September 30, 2014 #18 Share Posted September 30, 2014 I wish I could figure out how to upload pictures. We had a family picture taken on both the Liberty and the Legend. Our family was 24 and 27 people. We asked the photographer on the stairway early in the evening and both times we were told to simply get in line when we were ready. They took atleast 10 pictures each time and they were fantastic. So professional!! We never felt rushed. Each family member was able to purchase thei favorite picture.
