3 day cruise help

First Disney cruise AND first short cruise! We will be a party of 10 including a 5, 4, 3 and 2 year-old. Since the cruise is so short and most of our party have never even been on a ship I'm wondering if we should stay on the ship in the Bahamas and let the kids enjoy and explore it and have a beach day at the private island. Any thoughts?

to be honest, yes, stay on the ship and enjoy what it has to offer while others are in port. Short cruises are truly too short to really explore the ship. There isn't anything that great in Nassau for the family anyway.

Castaway Cay will be fun, so do go there and enjoy the day. (ps I would never to a 3 day cruise again, I prefer 7)

Depends on what the cruise is for.

Why are you cruising? If to experience the Disney Ship, then stay on. If it is to explore a bahamian island, then go off and enjoy the time ON shore....You can always enjoy the taxi that got you there other times.

I personally cruise for the destination. The nice taxi ride is a bonus. You only have 8 hours or so to enjoy another country. You have 2.5 days to enjoy the ship and all it has to offer.

Thanks for the suggestions. I am not a fan of the short cruise, especially THIS short, however this cruise was simply a way to get the whole family in one place to celebrate my wife's 60th birthday. The kids couldn't be away for 7 days and this was the only cruise sailing on the correct day. Was thinking the ship might be quiet and we could be all together on board and still have a beach day the last day on the private island. Really appreciate comments from those of you who have cruised Disney short cruises before!!!

We did the 3 day over the 4th of July (after WDW) and it was short so yes we did stay onboard in Nassau and enjoyed the ship. This was our first Disney cruise, and DH and DS's 1st cruise so the ship was exciting to them. We did get off for about 45 min or so walked around in the port area and bought a few souvenirs.
