patski51 Posted April 27, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 27, 2004 Can I wear velvet on my May Alaska cruise or is it too late in the season even thought it is Alaska? Also, should we take wool in May?
zcat Posted April 27, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 27, 2004 Been on 14 Alaska cruises 12 back to back 2 singles. Went in May,June,July,August and Sept.Always take only velour and velvet. They pack well and are light weight. I have 5 formal gowns and switch them around (give one or two a rest). You won't be out of place and will feel wonderful. Enjoy your cruise. pattigay Posted April 27, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 27, 2004 Take your velvet - you will be among many! I took cashmere sweaters (Land's End cashmeres are my uniform from fall through spring in Seattle) and they were very comfortable. The ship is air conditioned and the term in May-June averages about 60. I would certainly bring at least one wool sweater especially when on deck viewing the glaciers. Also, don't forget to bring a jacket, preferable a waterproof one.

mii Posted April 29, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 29, 2004 Take the velvet. In May it is still quite cool and you see just about every material on formal nights. Have a great cruise. Marilyn
