Laxmom34 - We will be in 5316 December 31 2017 I am so looking forward to being near the Red Frog Pub and tasting bar...and the casino. Seems like a great hidden place to be.

Kim

We were in 5316, we did not have any issues with with the room being too warm. I like it cool and it was just fine for me. I liked the location. We had a fridge in our room too. It was a very quite area. Visit the taste bar there are many tasty treats throughout the cruise. They also serve a lite breakfast. Ocean plaza is very near your room and has many great activities, the alchemy bar has great drinks and the Fred Frog Pub has pub trivia every evening which we enjoyed. Great cheesecake (under $2) at The Shake Spot. All of these areas are close to your room.

We had late dining it was perfect for us. We go into port as early as we can and like to relax after coming back, then have late dinner.

The shows are twice per night so you can see them if you have early or late dinner seating. The comedians were good, the venue is small get there early. The Hasbro game show was fun to watch and so is the Newlywed game.

Have a great time!

Using the card means that the lights will be off if no one is in the room. (many hotels now use this method too.) Thus supposedly less energy being wasted and the bulbs will supposedly last longer. But supposedly it is for energy conservation.

What amazes me is that we have always turned off our lights before leaving our cabin for dinner. When we returned, the cabin steward has always left the table lamp lights on. Could never figure out why they left them on.

Laxmom34 - Thanks for the info! Regarding the lights - so you have to use your sail and sign to activate them when you come in, so I'm assuming you use it again when you want them off? That seems strange to me - I wonder why no switches?

Which cabin were you in? Did you have any problem with the a/c? I've been reading that the Sunshine runs warm and I can't sleep in a warm room so I've been stressing just a little.

Did you like the location of your cabin? It's going to seem strange to me to not have a long hallway of rooms like we normally do.

Any other tips you might be able to give us? What about shows? We are waitlisted for early dining so we may end up with late. Would we still be able to catch the shows if we wanted to?

HI We were on the sunshine the week of April 15 in cabin 5335. We only left the ac on the medium setting and it was fine. The high was a little cold for us. You need to leave your sign in sail card in a slot by the door for the lights. You have switches in the room to control the individual lights, but in order for them to work you need a card in the slot by the door. We actually used our room stewards business card. We loved the location of the cabin. It was down the hall from the elevators that take you directly to the lido deck on 9. Just out the door to the buffet. It was also the same elevator for the kids club, which was very nice. We did any time dining and loved it. We requested the same wait staff every night, and only waited 5 minutes one night. We have a 3 year old, so we did not see any shows. Maybe next year.

I wanted to say to, as far as room temp. We brought a small, powerful fan. That eliminated any noise, which there was none, and kept us cooler at night. All in all, we LOVED the sunshine. If you have kids I think you will love the 5th floor, very convenient for all the things kids love.

If memory serves it is only the new cabins; while we have used the card switch (not a fan for the reasons stated) on Magic, I don't remember it being in 7319 on Sunshine.

As for the door, you can search the website and they will specify about how the door can be decorated. To sum it up, things must be flame retardant and should only be applied with command strips. The gel clings leave a residue that can damage the door - they are intended for window and glass use. This policy so far does not appear to be universally enforced though.
