So I was in Galveston today with my son having a little fun and lunch. It was 11:30 and it was busy down by the ships. We were headed to a dolphin tour. Anyway I passed a bunch of crew from the Magic walking back from shopping and I saw some on the strand. They all had bags from going and buying things they need on the ship. Ya wanna know what the one thing I noticed shining thru each bag was?!? CANDY and CHOCOLATE!!

 

IDK how many posts I have read where people wanna bring them a gift. I agree cash is king and they can go buy what they want with it. However it does prove it is one of the things that they want.

Do to additional cutbacks stateroom stewards are now required to purchased their own chocolate for turn down service. :rolleyes:

LOL funny. I doubt many were stateroom stewards as it was turn around time and they would be cleaning.

Since we usually cruise around halloween, we bring on board with us some kind of trick or treat container full of chocolate. What is left over, which is always a good amount, we leave it for the cabin steward.

I have started carrying a bag of Hershey's minatures and tell my room steward to get some everytime he is in my room. While on the Dream I tok two bags and was passing out candy in the casino and especially to the ladies (Claudia) working the cashiers cage(they liked the crunch bars)....Dennis

The one year I cruised , Christmas time I put a few candies and the tip for room steward in a little stocking.

Cash is king. Let them buy what they want with it, not what one thinks they might like. I can not imagine how many trinkets guests have given to employees that are now at the bottom of the ocean.

The crew with time off on embarkation day is Entertainment staff. The US , Canadian, British, etc crew supplement ship food with American junk food.
