bchbum4000 Posted October 12, 2014 #1 Share Posted October 12, 2014 Do you have to book a tour once you get to Atlantis? Or, would we be able to walk thru the property so that the kids can see the fish aquariums? Any information reguading a day at Atlantis would be greatly appreciated! MYCRUISEVACATIONS Posted October 12, 2014 #3 Share Posted October 12, 2014 As has been stated you could all go over and see the fish, there is a lot of information on the internet about the Atlantis. You will need a room special or Day Pass to experience the Water parks if the kids were old enough! Atlantis, with its incomparable ruins of an ancient lost world populated by schools of sharks and manta rays; with water slides and water rides, beaches and swimming pools, its remarkably diverse play activities, excite me each time I'm in Nassau/Paradise Island. Atlantis Resort hosts the largest such exhibit in the Caribbean and one of the largest in the world … encompassing 14 lagoons, eight million gallons of salt water and more than 50,000 aquatic animals representing over 250 marine species. We bought our tickets as an excursion, which meant it included a one hour guided tour of the aquarium and then we were free to roam about on our own afterwards. If *you* happen to go, the one hour guided tour felt really rushed. Because the property is huge, the aquarium is all over and not just one contained area, and there was a LOT to cram into that one hour. The property is gorgeous. And spotless. It reminds me a bit of Disneyworld in that there are thousands upon thousands of people there and yet you don’t see a speck of garbage anywhere. And you don’t see people cleaning really either. So I don’t know how they do it, but they do an awesome job of it. Fortunately Disney Cruiseline (DCL) has a shore excursion you can book or try one of the Day passes for the best overall value, I suggest. Here's what happened last time on our Disney Cruiseline's trip it was 8:00am. We weren’t the only ones with Atlantis on our itinerary — the cruise terminal was a madhouse. Our two options to get to Atlantis were: Taxi ($4 p/p) and Water Taxi ($3 p/p). Even with a taxi, it took us an hour from the time we got off the ship until we arrived at Atlantis. Since this was not our first visit to Atlantis, we found navigating the resort was easy it tends to be a little tricky. After some confusion, we picked up our tickets at the Discover Atlantis desk, which can be found by taking the stairs at check-in down to the lower level. No worries though — once we had our wristbands, the day was officially on. We only had a few hours, but we wanted to make the most of it. Atlantis Aquaventure opens at 9:00am, the water slides open at 10:00am. Atlantis day pass is a great value! A note about Atlantis Day Passes: Passes may be purchased by day visitors, but availability is limited – and may be closed – during periods of high resort occupancy. Most cruise lines sell excursions to Atlantis, and this is your best bet if only spending the day in Nassau. Admission to Atlantis Aquaventure is complimentary to all guests staying at Atlantis Resort. I must say a Special thanks to Atlantis Resort for providing my family with day passes last trip. Travel ✈with the passes and treasure all the great memories you made! **WARNING ** there are no chairs together at the beach/pool, long lines for water rides, no lockers left. Everything there is expensive too ($9.00 slice of pizza) If your into “Disneyesque” overly landscaped crowded theme resorts, have at it. I’ve been to Nassau numerous times and this was by far the best time we had. We spent a full afternoon there, I want to say from 9:00am until 3:00pm. As long as you get off the ship early, you shouldn’t have a problem getting passes at Atlantis– especially in November (When we traveled). Purchasing through the cruise line will guarantee you space and transportation though. Some cruise lines up the price on tickets purchased through the cruise to 472.00 for our family of 4… If you have to leave the resort by 1:00 p.m. to make outback to the ship which will depart Nassau consider seeking out the portion of the resort and casino that was open to the public. Even without seeing Atlantis Aquaventure park or other private guest areas, we were still blown away. It’s like the ultimate - Look at their website and consider booking a cheap room and get admission to everything included! Safe journeys! :)

owensamo Posted October 12, 2014 #6 Share Posted October 12, 2014 We were there a few years ago and did DCL's Discover Atlantis tour, which included transportation, access to the Dig aquarium and a tour. For the price, we thought it was a good deal. It seemed to me that you could go to Atlantis and wander around the shops and maybe the casino without a pass. However, in order to get to any of the other areas (water park, aquarium, outdoor fish tanks) you had to go past someone checking wristbands - so you needed some kind of pass. They were selling them on-site, but the cost was high enough that the excursion made sense - I think it was $49/day just for the Dig access (and free range through the resort), and we paid $59 for the excursion which included transportation and the tour. They were pretty strict about checking wristbands, as well, and had people stationed at pretty much any access point. We really enjoyed the excursion, the tour (which was kind of hokey, but had some very interesting information as well) and the aquarium. It was enough to give us a feel for the resort, and the idea that it might be a nice place to visit for a few days someday.
