stefs111 Posted October 13, 2014 #1 Share Posted October 13, 2014 If the Sunshine leaves Pt Canaveral at 4PM, what time will the casino open?
Rare Honolulu Blue Posted October 13, 2014 #2 Share Posted October 13, 2014 My generalized experience is that the casino will open about 1/2 hour after leaving any port. So if it leaves at 4, by 4:30 you should be able to wander down and it'll be either open or close enough that dealers are standing by their tables (with their bosses nearby). In the latter case, go ahead and ask someone when they plan to open.
RuthlessBoss Posted October 13, 2014 #3 Share Posted October 13, 2014 Kind of an odd question for someone with 19 cruises on your list;) You know there is at least a 3 mile thing before it's legal to open. So, the time depends on how fast the ship is going!
golfadj Posted October 13, 2014 #4 Share Posted October 13, 2014 Some ports have a longer ways to go before reaching open waters so guessing that is the reason for the question. Would think about half hour after getting going would be about right

So, the time depends on how fast the ship is going! Not odd at all. We've been on many cruises and I have no idea what time the casino opens. We're busy exploring the ship, or napping as we usually leave very early for the airport, unpacking , sail away party, etc.

stefs111 Posted October 14, 2014 Author #13 Share Posted October 14, 2014 You all are so funny, thank you for the answers. I sure hope it is not an hour and a half, yes, I have picked up the casino bug. I usually go to the Tampa Hard Rock Casino at least once a month, but have not been there for about 6 months while trying to save money to gamble on the upcoming cruise. We love cruising, and the casino is part of the reason. I am hoping to get some slot time in before early dinner. I will ask the casino hosts, but was just asking on this board because I know someone would have an answer for me sooner. Again, thank you for the responses. crazyfrazee Posted October 14, 2014 #14 Share Posted October 14, 2014 I was thinking the number was 12 miles and found a website about legal gambling that said the following: "Territorial waters begin twelve miles away from the coastline and this is where it gets interesting in regards to gaming laws. For example, cruise ships that have gaming on board cannot open their casino until they have exceeded the twelve miles in respect to USA waters because of the illegal gambling rules."
