BEFdoc Posted October 19, 2014 #1 Share Posted October 19, 2014 With the news full of Ebola, there seems to be some talk about a virus in St. Martin. Anyone have any information about this? Transmitted by mosquito so the advice is to use DEET. The name starts with a "Chu". Any information would be useful. Thanks

Karysa Posted October 19, 2014 #3 Share Posted October 19, 2014 (edited) Terrible fearmongering title for a thread and a really unfortunate time for it since it was posted in the same week as the island suffered some damage from Hurricane Gonzola. You didnt even post it as a question. Your title looks like a statement. Look at your CDC website for travel advisories. Riversedge Posted October 26, 2014 #4 Share Posted October 26, 2014 We were in St Maarten in February and it was a problem. The breezes at the beach keep the skeeters away so you shouldn't have a problem there. Some areas of the island seemed worse than others (we were there for two weeks). Spray yourselves with Deet if you are worried.
gtaylor Posted October 26, 2014 #5 Share Posted October 26, 2014 Both sides of the island have upped their public awareness campaigns and spraying/fogging operations in the aftermath of Hurricane Gonzalo. gary
