How long is it taking for turn around time before you have them in hand?

Some people have reported it taking only two weeks and some people have reported it taking months. I think it depends on whether it is new vs. renewal, what part of the country you live in, and just plain luck!

It also depends on the volume at the processing centers.

 

Mine took 4 weeks on the dot....wife's took 5 weeks...came back wrong....less than a week turn around on the correction.

 

Ours came from two different processing centers. The reasoning as I understand is the increased volume of people making applications as the state dept. added two new processing centers.

Ours took 6 weeks. (June/July) :)

Mine took 19 days from the day I applied for it and when I actually received it in the mail. However my 25 year old son who applied 1 week before me, still hasn't gotten his!

Mine took almost a month. I applied through the post office, using a really old expired passport.

Ours were both new - applied at county courthouse - took exactly 6 weeks to the day - applied on June 24 and had them in the mail on August 5.

We just got a passport for my son and it went through one of the new processing centers (DC I believe). We applied on a saturday at the post office and got it in the mail the next wednesday (11 days later)

 

Either they are really efficient or maybe it was because he is an infant and didn't have to do any background checking on him.

We just applied for passports 2 weeks ago, I wish I would have known they going to change the dates. We could have saved 300.00. That would have been more money the casino:p

It also depends on the time of year that you apply for a Passport. The Fall and Winter months are usually much faster than the Spring and Summer months. Spring and Summer are when more people travel, and the volume of applications is larger.

 

Ngray - I don't think you'll be at all disappointed with your new Passports! They're good for ten years. About a year and a half ago, an adult Passport cost $85.00. Now they're $97.00. The price will only continue to go up, especially with the extended deadline.

Me and my Dh applyed for our passports and it took right at four weeks.I also think it depends on where they go to be process.
