Unfortunately, I do not have a Carnival cruise booked at the moment. The Royal certificates are not so user friendly and must be used for new bookings and, if I read the requirements correctly, only through the cruise line directly. Oh well, something to keep in mind for my next Cruise on CCL!

I didn't know they had these, I just bought 4 $500.00 ones. Haven't broke it to the wife yet.

She will either go  or :D or

I just want to say I love your signature banner! Congratulations on quitting such a behavior controlling addiction. I too quit about 4 1/2 years ago and went to the banner site and discovered I have saved well over $10,000.00. I have to say, that is a few cruises, not to mention how many more years of quality life I have gained. Kudos to you, I know first hand how very, very tough it is to do what you have done.

I was ready to quit. Did it for 10 years, I did enjoy smoking. But about 4 months before I quit I started waking up in the morning coughing, hacking, and generally felt bad more often than not.

We went on a cruise last april, and I threw my pack away in the port, and haven't picked one up since.

Felt good.

If I get $1000 in egift cards and apply it to my S&S card, can I use that money in the casino? Does the casino charge a fee to do this?

Yes you can apply the money to your S&S account and then download into your players club account via slot machine for free. If you use your S&S card at any of the tables there is a 3% fee. Your best bet would be to download it onto a slot machine then hit "cashout". Then just go to the cage and tell them you want to empty your player's club account and they'll give you the cash. Very easy and you avoid the 3% fee.

Can you purchase them for someone else? I want to give some to my son's best friend who will be taking a honeymoon cruise.

Yes. They will come to your email but when you open the actual e-gift card there is no name on it. Just the amount, the 16 digit gc number, a PIN number, and it states Expiration: None.

I just want to double check before I purchase these... my cruise is paid for so if I purchase them they will be used for my sign and sail account but in the disclaimer it says that they can be used to purchase a carnival cruise.. I didn't read anywhere that says they can be used as OBC. Has anyone actually used these on the ship that can tell us first hand? I just don't want to drop a bunch of $$$ on these if I can't use them on the ship.

We bought the e-certificates for our last cruise and to pay off our next one. They work great on board. We just went to the kiosk machine and applied them to our account. We used our account for drinks, spa, casino, gratuities and no problems at all. Always love saving 10%! :)

Just to let you guys know, if you are a member of AARP then you can also buy Carnival gift cards through them at a 10% discount. They have the AARP Rewards. Just in case you are not a Verizon person.

Good to know. Guess I will have to go check and see how many AARP points I have.

Thanks, I was able to find them on the AARP website. It is for the Cruise Dollars at $100 and $500. The terms are not as enticing or flexible to me as the egift cards but like you said may work for someone that does not have Verizon.

There are two different types. One is a certificate that you can only use to purchase a cruise. The other is an egift card that can be used to purchase a cruise or applied to your sign and sail account at guest services.

Here is the language cut and pasted off the actual egift card itself:

To redeem towards activities/shore excursions or onboard gifts, drinks and fun, print and bring this e-card to the Guest Services Desk on board your cruise ship so it can be credited towards your Sail & Sign account.

So glad I found this today. Got 2 reward cards from Verizon for $500 each then called our PVP and she helped get them applied and refunded our credit card for the original deposit. So in addition to the great savings we got on the Halloween Sale we have also saed another $100.. Woo HOO!!!!!!

More Pina Colada's for me!!!!

Just make sure you are buying the e-gift cards and not the Carnival Cruise Dollars. There are restrictions on the cruise dollars. But yes, if you get the e-gift cards you can apply them to your S&S once onboard.
