firemanbobswife Posted October 29, 2014 #26 Share Posted October 29, 2014 I am very familiar with those little planes and those exact gates ALL THE WAY AT THE END of Miami airport. I get stuck there every time I fly nonstop to/from Norfolk on American. It seems like you're walking for hours. Up and down escalators, on trains. The planes do indeed have 1 seat in the left and 2 on the right. They are Embraer Regional Jets. Aahhhh the price we pay for nonstop, huh?! :)
funinthesun1964 Posted October 29, 2014 Author #27 Share Posted October 29, 2014 City view: a TV as large as the one in my family room: Kuerig coffee is complimentary, but everything else is $. Be careful not to even touch anything if you go to this hotel, it is charged by sensor - so even if you pick it up and hold it over 6 or 8 seconds, it charges your bill. Bathroom and on the right there is a large closet, with a safe inside. To the right of the closet, shelves with extra towels and tissues. Double shower head, although I couldn't figure out (neither could DH) how to use the other one. Just used the one furthest out. It was fine. funinthesun1964 Posted October 29, 2014 Author #29 Share Posted October 29, 2014 More bathroom pictures, how exciting, right? Back out to the room A young man brought our luggage to the room, which was taken from us before we even had a chance to get out of our cab. This young man proceeded to give us a rundown of all the features of the room, and a couple of bits of advice. I'm sure he was hoping for a big tip. I did tip him, but all there was to bring was 2 -20 inch carry-ons. I thought 3 bucks was enough IMO. One thing I noticed in the hotel, was that you could only use the buttons on one side of the elevator halls. I thought the signs to tell you this were rather tacky-looking. just sitting on the floor: ???? The pool area and café on 5th floor was nice, but we didn't use them. funinthesun1964 Posted October 29, 2014 Author #31 Share Posted October 29, 2014 Simple elegance. We went through the lobby on our way out to take a stroll Modern lobby On our way towards Bayfront Park, we went out of the hotel front entrance and took a left. Outside of the hotel If I had this area to walk through at home, I could get a lot of miles in. Beautiful.
funinthesun1964 Posted October 29, 2014 Author #32 Share Posted October 29, 2014 We made it to Bayfront and saw many shops, restaurants, etc. Let's make a daiquiri! We found a place to sit down and have a couple of drinks. I do not remember the name of the place.
funinthesun1964 Posted October 29, 2014 Author #33 Share Posted October 29, 2014 Our buddies We drank, enjoyed conversation, then went walking around the shopping area. Good exercise. Afterwards, we went to ride the people mover. No destination in particular, we just did a loop. It didn't take too long. After that, we found a CVS which was fairly close to the hotel. I picked up sunscreen and some coke zero, and a bottle of wine. We went back to the hotel to drop all the stuff in our rooms. JJInc Posted October 29, 2014 #34 Share Posted October 29, 2014 also went to a restaurant called "The Filling Station". What did you think of The Filling Station, what did you eat? We were going to go there the last time we were in Miami but never made it.
funinthesun1964 Posted October 29, 2014 Author #35 Share Posted October 29, 2014 More lobby photos We headed out to a place called the Filling Station. It is walking distance from the hotel, not too far at all. I'd say half mile or less. It is nothing fancy, more like a tavern. The sandwiches were delicious. It was very enjoyable. When we returned to the hotel again we were done. That's all we had in us. Bed time!! 11pm or so? Enough is enough. Hotel was OK, I didn't think it was anything too fancy. Those tacky signs were strange. I could see this place going downhill very soon if the management doesn't keep on top of things. Very convenient location though, for sure. Next up - Conquest!! funinthesun1964 Posted October 29, 2014 Author #36 Share Posted October 29, 2014 Woke up the next morning. After getting ready and organized, texted our friends and arranged to meet them in the lobby for breakfast. We didn't want anything big, coffee and a small amount of food. We set out on foot and since we didn't know where anything was, we found a McDonalds and just went there. We took a stroll back to the hotel and went through some stores. I found a Walgreens, and another CVS, and purchased a couple of things that I thought I had packed, but didn't. Back in our room, we organized, packed and met in the lobby around 11 or so. Got a taxi and went to port. We arrived at the port, handed off luggage to porters and went in the terminal. The line to initially check in and get through security wasn't bad, but then - what a mess! Went upstairs and there was a special form to complete before you could get in line to get your S&S cards. Chaos. Not enough pens. One employee said "what, no one has a pen?" "amazing grace". I really just had a backpack with some items, but no pen. So people were sharing pens, filling out questionnaires that asked if we were sick, and if we had visited countries in western Africa in the last few weeks. Just a cluster of people coming from downstairs and trying to get a pen, and complete the form. And, no where to write - we used the wall. Finally, we got through that, and got our S&S cards, had our picture taken for the ID, and all that. We were "zone 6" but were not given a card like before. They just wrote zone 6 on our boarding pass and told us to sit down and wait. We waited for I'd say around a half hour, our zone was finally called, we got our pictures and were aboard. cruiseelady Posted October 29, 2014 #38 Share Posted October 29, 2014 Hello all, returned from our Conquest cruise last night. I am willing to share the photos with everyone and I also have the Fun Times, which I can upload. Pre-cruise we stayed at the Intercontinental downtown, very convenient location and close to the port. We visited Bayside Market, and also went to a restaurant called "The Filling Station". We did the Western itinerary so our ports were Cozumel, Belize, Roatan and Costa Maya. In Cozumel we went to Paradise Beach and stayed for about an hour and a half before it started to rain. Belize - we did ziplining and cavetubing through .bz (vitalino). Wonderful and professional folks here. Roatan - We stayed right at Mahogany Bay Beach. Costa Maya - we rented golf carts and saw much of the area, until it started pouring on us. After we returned the carts, we had quite a walk down the pier to the ship. Had a great time with friends. Please be patient with me as I get the photos uploaded and sorted. In the mean time, if you have any questions please ask. Brenda I have a question for you Brenda, did you get any products in the shell(bathroom)? Lately I have not had anything at all, I remember a few years ago the shell used to be full of products. I am curious if maybe its because I have been staying in the cheapest inside stateroom.
Ken076 Posted October 29, 2014 #39 Share Posted October 29, 2014 I am new to this forum but am looking for photos and video that would have been taken on the Carnival Conquest from the 11th to the 19th of October. My friend lost her camera and all of her photos. I feel so bad for her and would like to find some photos that might have been taken on their excursion. We were there as well and have some photos but weren't with her on the Zip line and cave tubing. We missed getting the video from the ship as well. Just forgot. They said it is no longer available. Thank you for any help you might have. Thank you! :) You might see if the Roll Call for that cruise is still Active and post there? ken

Lately I have not had anything at all, I remember a few years ago the shell used to be full of products. I am curious if maybe its because I have been staying in the cheapest inside stateroom. Sometimes in those shells its hit or miss. I think those products are samples from vendors and things have tightened up a bit. But we did get some arm and hammer toothpaste, a packet of stuff called unburn (something for sunburn), and maybe some breathe-right strips? Not sure what the third thing was, but I do have a picture that I will post, coming up soon!
funinthesun1964 Posted October 29, 2014 Author #42 Share Posted October 29, 2014 We walk into the ship and of course the DJ is there. Don't like this. Maybe my age is showing. Sorry the photo is dark. A picture of the atrium Going to the Lido deck Deck chairs are still nice and neat

funinthesun1964 Posted October 29, 2014 Author #44 Share Posted October 29, 2014 Yay, the Blue Iguana Tequila Bar! The ship is not yet crowded. Red Frog Rum Bar Cute little towel animal pets lazing around the pool We are in the buffet, and I took a picture of the steps - this goes up to the fish and chips. DH goes up to get that. He loves it.
funinthesun1964 Posted October 29, 2014 Author #45 Share Posted October 29, 2014 We had a guarantee ocean view. We were assigned cabin number 2286. On Main deck obviously. We felt that we had a good location. Not too far from the steps/elevator, which led right up one flight to the atrium area. We were happy with the cabin. The only negative was that very very early (around 4:30 am!!!) It sounded as if the vacuum was being pulled out of a closet, which was right across the hall. It sounded like it was in our room! I am a light sleeper most of the time and didn't sleep well at all the first few nights. As the week went on, however, I went out like a light and didn't think I heard anything by the end of the cruise. Here are some pics of our oceanview cabin. Of course, the sofa. Bathroom Shower, same as all ships The bathroom door, the closets are right there when you come out.
