MalibuCA Posted October 31, 2014 #1 Share Posted October 31, 2014 My husband and I will be visiting Bodo and Narvik - both in Norway - next summer on a Crystal cruise. Any suggestions on what to do and see there? Thanks, Shelley
Eboracum_d Posted November 1, 2014 #2 Share Posted November 1, 2014 Certainly make sure you visit the Church in Bodo. The detached bell tower us a feature but the inside is also worth a look. My only visit was on a Hurtigruten ship so I had only limited time there Narvik has an interesting, though small, War Museum
SarniaLo Posted November 1, 2014 #3 Share Posted November 1, 2014 (edited) I have also only visited Bodo from a Hurtigruten ship (but several times). Bodo is unfortunately not the most picturesque town in Norway (it's a part of the country which has been heavily destroyed during WW2). If you are interested in planes, there is an aviation museum which is supposed to be good (I haven't visited it, so I hope it's OK to mention it? http://luftfartsmuseum.no/en/ ). Bodo can also be the start for an excursion to Saltstraumen, a strong tidal current which is pretty spectacular to see. You can approach it by land (by bus) or by the sea. There are chances your boat will offer this excursion, or you can DIY, there are companies offering sea safari to Salstraumen from Bodo. MalibuCA Posted November 2, 2014 Author #4 Share Posted November 2, 2014 Thanks for the help. I'm considering the "sea current" sight. Just wondering if there's anything else to do or see. Thanks, Shelley
