I'm about to go on Legend. Just wondering if any pools are designed to walk into or are they all ladders or stairs?

Anybody know what types of cigarettes are sold on Legend and Spirit.

I also read that there is no smoking until the ship leaves port. Are you allowed to get off once you've boarded and get back on?

Before I gave up 2 years a go you could still smoke while the ship was in port in the designated 'Open Areas"but it was limited to one side and up high, I dont think it has changed?

No! Be last to board :D

Hey Deb,

Can you clarify something for me please?... If Matt buys smokes on-board Duty Free can he smoke them on-board?.. I know the restrictions for bringing them off, but just sure about the on-board bit.

Thanks,

Sharon

Thats a good point now its all changed. No good selling you a carton of smokes and giving them to you on the last day...you just have to pay duty on them once taken ashore.

Might as well buy them at the local grocer.

If you are flying Trans Tasman to join a cruise you cant even take a carton with you for use on board any more.

Only 50 cigs into Australia and also NZ from now on.

No smoking in port is usually to do with the ship refueling.

I have never been restricted from smoking on the ship when it was in port before sailaway

When smoking was allowed in cabins and casino you were restricted from smoking there until the ship left port but never in the outside smoking areas.

I dont think they will let you have them unless you buy just before cruise end?

I have purchased onboard 2 days before cruise end and allowed to keep them at time of sale on Aussie cruises.

On USA Carnival cruises you can buy them and take them with you as soon as the DF shop is open so it may be allowed in the overly strict Australian cruise system lol

I purchased duty free smokes from a Perth duty free shop and boarded a cruise with 2 cartons.

I think i heard somewhere that Melb and Syd do not sell smokes in duty free shops only at the airport DF?

If you do purchase DF smokes from a DF shop all you need is your cruise ticket and passport, if you cannot take them with you because the DF does not keep them in shop then the DF shop has to send its rep to the cruise port to hand them to you at customs.

You can take as many DF smokes onboard as you like, there are no restrictions.

Don't know about Carnival but on Princess ships you buy cigs over the bar,$4 a pkt a year ago and smoke them whenever you like.

Never heard of not smoking whilst still in port.

I remember on Pacific sky they roped off part of the promenade deck when refueling with no smoking signs attached.

Carnival Spirit changed the rules and you can't smoke until after muster.......they changed that about a year ago.

Smokers were all going nutzzzz and like school kids trying to find a hiding spot as no one was notified prior

No other cruise line has brought in this rule

Must be something with AU ports? In USA you can smoke as soon as you board on Carnival as long as you are in a smoking area.

Yeah.. the $4 I quoted was on Grand in US.

Two years ago on Diamond Bangkok to Sydney $6.70, seems they vary the price depending on what part of the world they're in.

that price on the princess were for packs of 40's, every pack was the same price

i believe on p&o aus a pack of 30's is around the $18-$19....someone may give an updated price

No just Carnival Spirit (and probably Legend). No issues on P&O, Celebrity or Royal Caribbean in the appropriate areas.
