pawmtweez Posted November 3, 2014 #1 Share Posted November 3, 2014 (edited) I just ran across this festival running from November 6 - 16 this year: http://www.piratesweekfestival.com/ Has anyone who has been to Grand Cayman in prior years during the festival noticed an impact on cruise passengers? cb at sea Posted November 3, 2014 #2 Share Posted November 3, 2014 I can't imagine the 'impact" would affect anyone, except with more to do, and lots of fun! You know, cruise passengers are but a small number of tourists on GC!!!
drew sailbum Posted November 3, 2014 #3 Share Posted November 3, 2014 Many of the Pirate's Week major activities occur when cruise ships are not in port. The primary exception is the District Heritage Days, which are daytime events - one per day. If your ship visits on one of those days then you might want to make you way for an assortment of island foods and crafts. For 2014, those activities that cruise ship visitors might want to catch include: Monday 10 Nov - East End Heritage Day. starts 11am (Brilliance of the Seas in port). Rental car needed for transport! Tuesday 11 Nov - West Bay Heritage Day. starts 11am (Carnival Splendor, Celebrity Reflection, & Disney Fantasy in port) - Food and Cultural Festival . Cardinall Ave, downtown George Town easy walk from ships! 9am-4pm Wednesday 12 Nov - North Side Heritage Day. starts 11am near Kaibo (Carnival Freedom, Carnival Paradise, Celebrity Equinox, & Navigator of the Seas in port) Rental car needed for transport! - Food and Cultural Festival . Cardinall Ave, downtown George Town easy walk from ships! 9am-4pm Thursday 13 Nov - Bodden Town Heritage Day. starts 11am (Carnival Dream, Freedom of the Seas, Norwegian Epic, Carnival Glory, Eurodam, & Vision of the Seas in port) - Food and Cultural Festival . Cardinall Ave, downtown George Town easy walk from ships! 9am-4pm Friday 14 Nov - George Town Heritage Day. starts 11am Cardinall Ave downtown You can come for a stay-over vacation in 2015 and catch the entire festival complete with fireworks! pawmtweez Posted November 4, 2014 Author #4 Share Posted November 4, 2014 Thank you. That is very helpful. And the Food & Cultural Festival sounds interesting. Is there any reason to expect that traffic getting back from Seven Mile Beach would be any worse than usual?
