Open toed sandals on formal night; pantyhose or not?

Actually, I just went to get my dress hemmed and wore the slides that I'm intending to wear on formal night. I was wearing pantyhose and boy, was it ever slippery in those slides! So it looks like I'm going to go without the hose! Plus I never turn down a reason to get a pedicure!

 

Thanks for all your good wishes to enjoy my cruise! I'm so glad there's a board like this one where we can ask these fashion questions!

We get the cold weather in the winter up here in Canada so when summer comes, we like to toss off our pantyhose too! But I just wanted to make sure I wasn't committing a fashion faux pas! Nice to know that you can pretty well do what you want to do!

Ladies from Ontario are just as stylish. But I have to share with you what really made me a believer in open toed shoes and no panty hose. My husband rarely comments on fashion. Sometimes I wonder if he pays attention to what I have on. ( I love him to death). But when we're on a cruise and sees the panty hose, he always comments to me about how "unsexy" that looks. This really bowls me over because he never has made a fashion statement about anything else.

Thanks for the compliment, Doreen! And you're right, that was a strong statement from your DH! I usually go without pantyhose with toeless shoes too, but I wasn't sure about formal wear. However, after seeing all the replies on this thread, I've decided to go without pantyhose!

I NEVER EVER wear hose....

 

For those of you who want the "control", as I do...someone above mentioned Spanx - they are the greatest invention since sliced bread! I wore them for my wedding 2 years ago, and now wear them under most of my skirts, dresses, even nice slacks for work and dressy occasions.

 

I think Hanes even makes their own brand now - they are like control hose w/o the feet - and they come in several different lengths...I wear the short ones (above the knee) mostly.
