white pants on a September N.E. cruise

Recommended Posts

This is my first cruise since the Big Red Boat decades ago with the kids. I am no fashion expert. If it doesn't go with black, I don't buy it, because I get too confused. However, I do have a nice pair of white cotton lined pants and a white linen lined skirt that I was thinking of wearing on the casual and dressy (not formal) nights on the seven day cruise we are taking on RCL from Boston on September 11. I would probably wear a pair of open-toed black slides (I do get regular pedicures)and of course something black on top. Would this be a fashion no, or can I still assume it's summer until September 22? Should I be thinking more L.L. Bean, since it's a Canadian cruise? I appreciate everyone's ideas and have found this board particularly helpful.

I tend to not follow any of those old rules. I don't think many people really do any more - do they? I wear white whenever I want, so my advice is sure - wear them.

Adventure of the Seas will be our maiden cruise!

I don't follow the old rules either. If you want to wear the white pants go ahead and wear them.

Those old rules no longer apply, especially on a cruise ship. Even in conservative Northeast United States people wear "Winter White", which is nothing more that an ad agency name for white. If you look in the stores you will find white wool coats, white wool slacks, white heavy weight sweaters, etc. Wear your white clothes regardless of the season.

Enjoy your cruise. The Northeast passage is spectacular in September. The scenerary is magnicant. You have chosen a great cruise.

Linda

Thanks for listening

I live in Boston and am also taking a Canada/New England cruise this year.
Of course, it is your choice and whatever you are happy with is fine but I do not think you will be happy wearing what sounds like a very summery outfit in mid September. You very easily could have cool temperatures/raw rain....or, possibly it can still be warm that time of year. The weather is very variable and I would not plan to wear a very summery outfit mid September. It isn't a question of "rules", it is more that if the air is cool or raw, I would not be comfortable in summer white.

Even if it is warm, you may wish to wear a more "fall like" look.....Simply your choice but thought I would share a Bostonian's view.

Have a great cruise.
