oraf7 Posted June 10, 2004 #1 Share Posted June 10, 2004 I bought Black lined Evan Picone Dress. IT is knee length and sleeveless(goes up to neck like a haleter and has thin straps coming down the back). I have dressy black evening shoes, bag and jewelry. I am nervous because I am getting the impression that most people wear gowns. Does this sound formal enough or should I return and buy a gown with beads. I was trying to buy something that looks formal but that can be used later. OPinions plese
hstrybuf Posted June 10, 2004 #2 Share Posted June 10, 2004 It sounds very nice. Just dress it up with jewelry and a pashmina and you're set. kbt2 Posted June 10, 2004 #3 Share Posted June 10, 2004 It sounds lovely. Don't worry, there are all types of "dress attire" on formal evenings. Scarlett Fever Posted June 10, 2004 #4 Share Posted June 10, 2004 A little black dress can go either way... - Dress it up with nice shoes, jewelry and it's formal enough for the evening (like you have) - Wear slides and simple jewelry and it's more casual. I think you will look fine Explorer of the Seas
Laurab23 Posted June 10, 2004 #5 Share Posted June 10, 2004 You will be fine. I don't know what ship you're sailing on,but the the Legend that I just got back from there were very few long evening gowns.

berd0625 Posted June 12, 2004 #8 Share Posted June 12, 2004 After many weeks of agonizing about what to wear on Formal night, I finally bought a black dress at Chicos (Traveler's Marilyn for those who know them). It's got an asymmetrical ruffled hem and is longer in the back than in the front. The plan is 1 night with a gold shawl, and the other with a Chicos jacket. I hope this doesn't offend those on the other post about wearing the same dress for both nights, but I want to be comfortable as much as I want to feel appropriatley dressed. A classic black dress can't be beat.
