Rare Acrusa Posted April 13, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 13, 2004 just booked my first Silversea Cruise Cape Town to Port Louis.Been on 14 cruise's past 15 years, the only other cruise ive taken with open sitting has been the Wind Star.10 years ago,Always requested late seating on our cruise, large table for 8, been very happy most of the time with table mates. When you come into dinner are you escorted to a table for 2,or asked if you would like to be seated with other couples. Seas the Day Posted April 13, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 13, 2004 You are asked if you would prefer to eat alone, or with others. You might meet another couple (or two) whom you would like to have dinner with, and ask to be seated together. You might be invited by an Officer or entertainer or crew member to join them at their table. Basically, it's whatever YOU want (other than inviting yourself to an Officer's table, which I suppose you could ask the maitre d' to consider but may not happen with a specific Officer.) The maitre d' is the key.

Seas the Day Posted April 15, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 15, 2004 Advice? Hmmm.... Sign-up for tours, theme dinners and dinner at the special restaurant early. You can always cancel, but depending upon how full the ship is - sometimes things fill up. Special requests are common. You can ask for food to be made for you for snacks and delivered mid-afternoon (or whenever), we saw someone order a Baked Alaska for dessert one night, etc... You must give 24 hour notice for these special requests. Any other advice, you can take me along with you and I'll be glad to help!
