Back to Back Cruises - 1st one International, 2nd one Domestic

Recommended Posts

What happens with passengers in this scenario?

I understand that passengers have to disembark from the ship but can usually leave their luggage, etc in their cabins (esp when in same cabin).

They clear Immigration as they return to Australian waters, and assume would have to clear Customs upon their return to the terminal. For any items that they need to declare on their incoming card, do they bring just these items off with them from the ship?

Given the second cruise is a domestic cruise only, just wondering how it all works, as relatives are in this scenario in the near future.

Thanks in advance for your replies. :)

with a b2b if you are in the same cabin your luggage will stay there including your duty free items so no need to take anything off the ship, the night before you should receive a letter and a new card in your cabin with the information telling you what to do but you will have to disembark and ding off with your old card and when you embark ding on with your new card

you should be able to carry your account from one cruise to the other but you would have to see the reception desk to do that

you wont have to do the 2nd muster but it should say that in the letter so carry it with you just in case they want to know why you are not at the muster

if you wish to buy duty free alcohol or smokes get what you can on the first cruise as you wont be able to buy any on the domestic cruise

My experiences are on Royal Caribbean and Celebrity....you didn't specify the cruise company that you are asking about?

They never allow you to carry your account from one cruise to the next. All accounts must be settled, and no on board credit, internet credit or anything like that can be carried over. They will use the same credit card details unless you make some new arrangements at the service desk.

Muster drill must be done at the start of every cruise. No matter how many back to backs or previous cruises you have done. There are no exceptions on any Royal Caribbean or Celebrity cruises we have done B2B.

We have been asked to hand over our passports second last day for customs clearance, and we can get them back again after the next cruise starts to embark.

It has been our experience that while you can leave your luggage, and they will move it to another cabin if you are not in the same cabin (you must pack loose items, but hanging items will be transferred on the hangers), you will still have to leave your room, and they do not open the fire doors and give access to the cabins until after about 1pm.

Other cruise lines may have differing rules, but I would be amazed if they let anyone miss muster as they state that it is international law.

Princess allows you to miss the 2nd Muster if you are on a B2B.

If you have to change cabins, you can go to your next cabin, once it has been cleaned. Princess will move all the hanging items on a trolley and you move the rest. We usually throw the rest of the stuff into our carryons and wheel them to new room.
