New Orleans Port - Bottled Water/Soda

We have cruised out of NOLA 3 times but have never taken our own water/soda. I have heard that you can check it with your luggage to your cabin if it is tagged and still wrapped in store 'shrink wrap'?

 

Has anyone tried this lately? Thank you so very much for the help with this!

We cruised out of NOLA a year ago. I bought a case of water at a drug store for 3.95, slapped a luggage tag on it, checked it with the rest of our luggage and had it delivered to the cabin. It worked great. My wife likes her bottled water and this avoided the beverage package. She doesn't drink soda or coffee. Worst case is that you lose $4 for the water if it was confiscated. Have a safe and fun trip.
