gnld Posted December 2, 2014 #1 Share Posted December 2, 2014 Lots of news recently for lines acquiring new ships. Oceania buying one of Princess' R-ships. Seabourn now building a 2nd new ship, this one for 2018 delivery. And we know about Regent's new build for mid-2016. Take a look at this recent article in Travel Pulse. Three Silversea new builds in the wind?? http://www.travelpulse.com/news/cruise/is-silversea-planning-to-build-new-ships.html Anyone have other information?? Rare WesW Posted December 2, 2014 #2 Share Posted December 2, 2014 Hi Gary, nice to see you post here on the SS board. We have a thread on possible new builds citing the china finance option below, but as of today no new info: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2116015&page=
gnld Posted December 3, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted December 3, 2014 Hi Wes. I saw that posting about a newbuild Silversea ship by 12/15. Not going to happen in just 12 months time! But maybe in the not too distant future. Regent's got one coming out in 2016, as is Seabourn. And Seabourn just announced a twin of 2016 for 2018. Also, Oceania is buying one of the R ships from Princess. Lot of ship activity in the smaller ship lines. FYI. I think I've got Carol convinced of going to Antarctica with me on the Silver Explorer in Jan. 2016. Haven't booked anything yet, tho.
