Help needed European Cruise

We are cruising for the first time with Celebrity June/July 2015 Eastern Mediterranean on Reflection.

We are flying into Rome from Manchester - could anyone tell us if we are met by Celebrity staff at Flumicini Airport and are transfers included in the fly/cruise price. Of course any further information regarding this itinerary and Celebrity in general will be greatly appreciated.

In the past we have cruised with MSC, Royal Carribean and Thomson.

Whether you are met at the airport depends on whether you have booked your flight and transfers with Celebrity.

 

If you have booked it all with Celebrity then a local representative will meet and greet you at the airport and then get you to the transportation to your hotel. This maybe a minibus, coach or taxi dependent on how may other guess arrive at the same time.

 

On the day of the cruise if you have booked a transfer from the Hotel to the ship with Celebrity you will be asked to put your suitcases outside your hotel room by around 8:00am, you won't see them again until you are onboard the ship and possibly already at sea :eek:

 

This is normal we have sailed with Celebrity many times and whilst at first it does seem a little scary our cases have always turned up.

 

Just remember to take anything you need in a carry on as it may not be until early evening that you see your luggage again

As you have booked a fly cruise, you get all transfers included.

If you are flying in the previous day, a hotel will also be included. But I suspect you are flying direct to Rome on the morning of the cruise, by Jet2. The only reason I say this is because Celebrity have booked us on Jet 2 for our TA later in October.

To be totally clear: if you have booked flights, hotel and cruise all from Celebrity [not through a TA if they have booked flights and/or hotel separately] from Celebrity, transfers from airport to hotel, hotel to ship, ship to hotel and hotel to airport will all be included. If you are flying in on the day of the cruise and/or flying home on the day the cruise ends on flights booked through Celebrity, transfers between airport and ship [or vv] will be included.

 

However, if you have booked flights through Celebrity but have chosen to stay for a few days pre- and/or post-cruise and have not booked the hotels through Celebrity, no transfers will be included and there will be no representative to greet you at the airport.

As you have booked a fly/cruise, the cost of transfers is included in the price. When you get your e-docs, there will be vouchers for the transport from the airport to the ship and the return to the airport at the end of the cruise. Once you have picked up your luggage at Fiumicino, you will be met by a Celebrity rep - if there a large number of guests flying in, they will often have several staff on duty. The X reps are always easy to locate and will direct you to the transport that they have arranged.

Sorry, you have missed my point. What you say only applies if Celebrity have put together the fly/cruise. If it has been put together by a travel agent who sold a cruise from Celebrity and the flights from anyone else [as some of the offers sold in the UK weekend newspapers, for example], Celebrity will not provide transfers and you cannot say what an unknown travel agent will provide. It is not always clear what the situation is if you purchase through a large travel agent.
