Celebrity Cruise Care & Choice Air

Does anyone know if Choice Air is covered under Celebrity Cruise Care travel insurance? Choice Air and the regular air rates to Europe for this summer are the same. But, if Celebrity Cruise Care covered Choice Air purchases, it would make the decision on whether to use Choice Air easy.

Covered for what? Cancellation?

 

Your coverage is exactly what is specified in the Cruise Care contract. The contract is available on Celebrity's website.

 

Review CruiseCare terms, conditions and plan sponsors here if you booked your cruise before June 2, 2014 and/or your cruise is departing on/before December 31, 2014.

 

Review CruiseCare terms, conditions and plan sponsors here if you booked your cruise on/after June 2, 2014 and you are sailing on/after January 1, 2015.

 

From the website verbiage, repeated above, it appears they've recently changed their Cruise Care terms for future cruises. Under the old terms there was a provision for cancellation coverage for airfare, although just for the covered reasons and not under the cancel for any reason provision. Under the newer contract terms this has been eliminated and the only cancellation coverage remaining is the waiver of the Cruise Contract provisions that have a cancellation penalty. In turn the Cruise Contract specifically provides that the Cruise Fare does not include charges for airfare with the only exception being Cruise Tours which specifically include airfare as part of the Cruise Tour fare.

 

So based on reading all that it seems that neither Choice Air nor any other airfare would not be covered depending on your booking and sailing dates. Might look into separate air coverage or an independent trip insurance program.
