sfb Posted December 15, 2014 #26 Share Posted December 15, 2014 Skipper Tom, you have many statements there, and I am certain you believe all of them, although I take exception to some of your assertions. I also note that you "get by with a mix of bribes and presents. I always travel with presents and decide in the late stages which is the most appropriate for whom." While this is only my personal opinion, bribes and/or presents are not well suited to the crew members of Cunard ships. So if you wish to show your appreciation for the crew on Cunard ships, leave the H&D charge in place and add cash gratuities where you deem appropriate. Save your 'mix of bribes and presents' for another occasion and enjoy your voyage. -S. well said excellent post.Cheers.
Rare Solent Richard Posted December 16, 2014 #27 Share Posted December 16, 2014 £120 works out roughly at about 19 drinks at $9 inc 15% service. So that's the pre-dinner, G32 and any Golden Lion lunch drinks taken care of. Wines with dinner are of course a matter of choice and I doubt very much whether Cunard would be offering me Chianti or Chablis on an inclusive package. And of corse the savings were for each of us. Rare Solent Richard Posted December 16, 2014 #28 Share Posted December 16, 2014 We are all Cunader's ...Never ever had the need to remove the service charges ...far too well- known onboard to be even thinking of doing that ;) Well said Bell Boy. Perish the thought.

I'm in agreement with you on all those points Salacia and would also take slight issue with Skipper Tom on 'tipping in the Far East". Having just returned from 22 days Ha along Bay, Vietnam and mekong cruise to Siem Reap I can assure the Skipper that tips are more than gratefully accepted. Indeed, on one such occasion one would have thought I'd given one particular barman/waiter the winning lottery numbers by the reaction I received. Rare Solent Richard Posted December 17, 2014 #34 Share Posted December 17, 2014 Come on Richard, From reading the forum are you not travelling on QE ?That would be The Yacht Club then ! ;) You are correct John, I am on Queen Elizabeth. It is the second 'We Are Cunard Fanzine' nominated cruise and once again we have more numbers attending than that other UK forum could muster last September. I am also well aware of the party atmosphere in The Yacht Club on board Queen Elizabeth... Here we are whooping it up with one of the great entertainers on Cunard, Petrina Johnson... And as for the G32, many of us in the Fanzine are well acquainted with that also. Indeed, this was taken just over 12 months ago, in the G32, when I believe you were also onboard but chose not to make make yourself known... Another reason why women wear garments that cover their knees, and why men in kilts should wear knickers. Did I tell you the story of the man in the kilt sitting akimbo on the chair late one night in the casino bar on QM2 ?
