Wheelchair assistance at Pier 27 San Francisco

I would appreciate hearing about peoples' experiences with getting a wheelchair assistance for Embarkation at the new Pier 27 in San Francisco. (Disembarkation is handled on the ship.)

Where do you ask? Is there seating outside if you must wait for a chair

There is posts in other threads, on Princess board) of having to wait outside in line to get in to check in. Standing in a line is not something that will be possible.

Thank you for any and all information.

No seating outside terminal.

To avoid having to stand and wait it's best not to show up early and arrive after check-in has begun. The cruise line will not permit passengers for your cruise into the terminal until the previous cruise has fully disembarked and cleared the terminal

Once inside the terminal ask any cruise lines representative for wheelchair assistance. Wheelchair assistance is on a first come first served basis so you may be directed to a waiting area with chairs until a pusher/wheelchair is available.

From anyone's ACTUAL experience, how does avoid the standing in line when it has been noted that there is still a significant line even when and boarding has started

Are there representatives outside of the terminal one may speak to ask for help?

I am not looking for conjecture and lectures.

Thanks in advance for people supplying their experiences with getting wheelchair assistance at Pier 27z

I asked for actual experiences, which I still need, regarding getting a wheelchair assistance at Pier 27.

What happened while you were there and how did you or a member of your party arrange for a wheelchair? You did not give anything like that, which is why I responded.

Details of the experience are what I am asking for. Recommendations of arrival times are not what I'm asking for. Based on provided experiences, each individual can make their own decision.

Please share your experience if you have them regarding what happened.

The fact that my previous post did not contain words of personalization seems to be the issue in you accepting my post as being an ACTUAL experience. Therefore I'll reword it.

No chairs outside the terminal so I waited until after the cruise terminal opened for my cruise and check-in had already began.

Once inside the terminal I asked ( not a family member as I travel solo) a cruise line representative for wheelchair assistance. Wheelchair assistance is on a first come first served basis so I was directed to a waiting area with chairs until a pusher/wheelchair was available.

I have to use a walker to move. When we had dropped off our luggage, we went to the front door from the left, asked for a wheelchair, and were let into the terminal and went up the elevator. Wheelchairs were available on the upper floor. I didn't see anyone to push, so kept using the walker. It would have been good to have a chair for the long ramp to the ship. When we disembarked I walked down the ramp slowly, then asked for a chair as we stepped off. A nice man got me settled there and wheeled me through immigration, the luggage section (another topic:() and out across the driveway to wait for our ride.

If the terminal isn't open at all, there are benches in the area.

Wow, you are far nicer than I would have been if I had been responded to in such a rude manner not just one but twice.

I have gone in an out of SF many times, the sad truth is this port does not provide much assistance at all until you are inside the terminal. No one is allowed to enter until the arriving ship is clear of all passengers getting off.    I am looking tonight because my sister is disabled, needs a walker with a seat, just in case there is a wait to get into the terminal because their is little to no places to sit outside the terminal.

A couple of years ago, Feb 2020, the ship we were boarding was delayed.  Princess did send emails warning folks not to come to the port early.  We actually waited outside the entrance for 5.5 hours, (this was not normal) standing the entire time,  before the terminal was opened to those wanting to board that day.  Next to us was an very elderly man with his wife and daughter.  The daughter repeatedly asked if a folding chair could be brought out for her father to sit on, the chair was inside the terminal in clear site.  For the first 4.5 hours the response was no.  Finally those in charge allowed the daughter to take the father inside and sit on the chair.  I am from SF, this liberal city that professes to be so up to date on such issues sadly did not demonstrate so that day at all.  I have boarded ships all over the world, SF for some reason is  one of the most challenging ports I have experienced whether able bodied or not.

I was looking tonight,  to see if I can find some solutions as I am boarding with my 90 year husband and my disabled sister later this month.  I have purchased a collapsible stool for my husband, just in case because he can not stand in line anymore for long.  I know we can get wheel chairs once in side for my husband and sister but then I will be trying to deal with my carryon's. plus my sister's walker.  Luckily I am 75 and fairly able but trying to help two who have mobility challenges, plus my husband has dementia and can't hear well.  Can't check the walker because sister may need to sit down before entering the terminal.  Suspect we will figure the boarding out once in the terminal, my sister is hoping she can walk with the walker but I know it is a long walk and sometimes mostly up hill, so feel a wheel chair is better.   May need to get my husband to the cabin and then come back and help my sister with the walker.  Does not seem like there are many options for us seniors and those with disabilities.

We last cruised from SF in July and also several times before covid.  When we got out of the taxi there were several people with wheelchairs waiting to assist.  They took my husband into the terminal and thru securtity and check in.  There was a separate line for handicapped in security and also one for check in.  They then escorted us to a waiting area to hand us over to a Princess employee who wheeled my husband up the gangway and onto the ship and to wherever on the ship you wanted to go.  It was greatly appreciated as my husband can't stand for any length of time and the incline on the gangway is too much.  We usually get to the port around 11AM.  Hopefully it will all work out for you.
