How does a "No Show" work on Carnival?

We are looking at booking a short cruise for next month for my Wife, Son, and I. However we are not positive my Wife is going to be able to go. I know I have read in the past on here that it is best to just go and do a "no show" instead of calling and canceling ahead of time. I am aware of that we will of course forfeit the cruise fare paid for my Wife if she is unable to make it but I just want to be sure we can still sail (my Son and I) with no problem?

I can only speak from one personal experience, before ES and all those other "things".

Having booked a triple, I ended up going solo. They insisted I try to get a partner to go with me, but they did refund me my third fare.

Saur-kraut is exactly correct. Print separate boarding passes, so that the "no show" isn't listed on your pass. Go ahead and check in, and board the ship. When she doesn't show, they'll refund the port charges, and that's the end of it. No problem.

Oh and I forgot to add that port fees and prepaid gratuities were automatically refunded to the CC we used to pay the final payment.

We had 2 rooms with 2 people in each so I didn't want to cancel, lose the fare, and get hit with a solo supplement. You can tell them at check in and they don't care.
