cwn Posted December 27, 2014 #1 Share Posted December 27, 2014 Has anyone rented a car on arrival at Southampton cruise terminal. We will be arriving in Southampton on the Queen Mary II on a Sun. Is there a rental car pick up office near the terminal that is open on Sun? Right now we are set up with Hertz, but have to go to the airport to pick up the car. We will be able to return it to the office near the terminal so that is great. It would be so much easier if we could pick up the car near the dock, but can't seem to find a location that is open on Sunday. How is the best way to get to the airport? Smiths Cars are good according to a few forum members http://www.smithsforairports.com/index.html If you google southampton port car rental Then most of the major car rental companies are shown for you to contact and enquire. National Coaches have coaches to the Airports see http://www.nationalexpress.com/home.aspx Then The Trains from Southampton Central see http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/ Heathrow Airport you use South West Trains, you would have to Change at Woking for the Rail Air Coach You get off at Woking Railway Station Platform and outside is coach to continue to the Heathrow Terminals. (Its all included in the rail fare) Gatwick is direct from Southampton Central, using Southern Trains The easiest is Smiths Cars and may also be the cheapest ! Underwatr Posted December 27, 2014 #3 Share Posted December 27, 2014 We only had to go to a location near the cruise terminal but there is a taxi stand immediately as you exit the baggage hall.
balf Posted December 27, 2014 #4 Share Posted December 27, 2014 I would investigate the Hertz branch in West Quay Road before even thinking about the airport. David.
maz48 Posted December 28, 2014 #5 Share Posted December 28, 2014 Most if not all of those close to the terminal or in town are closed on a Sunday. I have been looking too. Seems a taxi to the airport locations will be the way to go. Not too far but annoying when there are all those close to the terminal on all the other days.
