NicNac4498 Posted December 29, 2014 #1 Share Posted December 29, 2014 Having a great time so far. Embarkation was fairly simple, the baggage drop off was lined up but once you were inside it only took around 15 minutes. We arrived around 11 to the port. We are staying in two connecting promenade staterooms on deck 6. This is our first time in this kind of room and I really like it. The window make the room feel a lot larger. One of the cabin's window is quite dirty and foggy though. They said they will try to clean it when we are in Cozumel. Not the biggest problem! The welcome aboard show was okay. The cruise director, John Perry, talked more than I remember others, but the comedian was pretty good. Plan of the day today is to hit up the Flowrider, swim, and then enjoy tonights formal night and the production show. If you have any questions, let me know! crowleycruiser Posted December 29, 2014 #6 Share Posted December 29, 2014 We were on this ship last week (the Christmas Cruise) and had quite a disappointing experience. Not only was it Christmas, but it was out honeymoon. Totally a bummer as we'd heard great things and couldn't wait to be loyal RCI cruisers. They gave us a nice 'try us again' refund toward our next cruise with them (no money back, unfortunately), but we had such a bad experience that we don't know that we will ever use it. :( Glad someone else is having a better experience! NicNac4498 Posted December 30, 2014 Author #9 Share Posted December 30, 2014 Hola from Cozumel! We decided to skip formal night last night and just hit the Windjammer which was good! The show was "Ballroom Fever" not my favorite show, but all the singers and dancers are excellent. Today in Cozumel we swam with the dolphins in Chankanaab. This is a great park and there is a ton to do even if you do not do the dolphins. We hung out on the beach, swam in the pool, and saw some of the sea-lion show. Amazing park, I would recommend it to anyone. Tonight the show is an acapella group called "Those Guys" looking forward to that! If anyone has any questions feel free to ask! I read your other post. Do NOT let this experience keep you from cruising again. Our 10/99 cruise was our honeymoon and first cruise. A little disappointing, but we are glad that we tried again. Now the only vacation I want to take is on a cruise ship.

Rare BillOh Posted December 31, 2014 #18 Share Posted December 31, 2014 Thank-you, that is the side we will be on in May. Love to watch the last minute pier runners. We were port side last May and had the pier runners. I saw that same phenomena when we were there on Freedom in 2008 and Navigator in 2009. It was so bad, even the crew got into the fun of goading the late returners. When I was there on Navigator people were leasurily strolling back to the ship 60 minutes after all aboard. You can see them walking 300-400 yards away. The crew would see people stopping for photos and they would pull up the gangway just to get people to run. Those of us on the balconies or pool deck would yell at the people to tell them they weren't going to make it. When I returned there on Jewel, Jewel changed its clock to match Cozumel time and only 1 lady returned at the last second.
Cruisin Dave Posted January 2, 2015 #19 Share Posted January 2, 2015 There are usually pier runners in Cozumel. They tend to stay too long at Carlos n Charlie's. LOL There is a review from last weeks cruise complaining about the AC. Is there still a problem. Dave

NicNac4498 Posted January 2, 2015 Author #21 Share Posted January 2, 2015 Sorry for the lack of updates. "These Guys" were amazing! One of the best headliner acts I have ever seen on Royal. They had so much energy and were just plain fun. The ice show onboard "Ice Dancin" is one of my favorites. The special act is still the same from the last time we were onboard in Oct. He does a german wheel act that is fantastic. New Years was one big party! I was a little disappointed that there were no balloons this year like the last few years. Usually there is a huge balloon drop but this year there was only confetti. Still had fun! In Roatan, we just got off and went to the shopping area on the pier and we did not get off in Belize. We have skipped the dining room every night this cruise. No particular reason it has just been a nice change of pace. Tonights show was supposed to be a motown singer/comedian named "James Stephens III" but he was ill, so the comedian that was originally scheduled for the farewell show preformed instead. He was hilarious, one of the better comedians I have seen on Royal. This is one area where Royal lacks in comparison to NCL and Carnival. Carnival has the dedicated comedy club with at least 4 comedians per cruise and NCL has Second City. Both other lines have much better comedy offerings. This is also our first cruise that we have access to the Diamond club. It has been wonderful being able to go up for pre dinner drinks and snacks. It has not been busy any time that we went, maybe only 5-7 people at the most. Tomorrow is the first of two sea days on our way back to Galveston. Looking forward to the Quest tomorrow night and "Now and Forever" the broadway themed production show (the better of the two, in my opinion).
