Yes, there are two parking lots within close proximity and walking distance of the ship. We did this last week on our cruise. The lots in Kahului are free. We did have to pay $20 to park our rental car overnight in Lihue.

As mentioned, yes there is parking available, in the lot across from the dock, and a second area along the seawall. BUT, it does fill up- always, and usually not available for those who have a late return from Old Lahaina Luau, as an example.
