CAS questions - revised

Recommended Posts

A couple of days ago I started a thread asking some questions regarding CAS. I’m not sure why it was removed but my guess is that I asked for recommendations of contacts at CAS. I know we aren’t supposed to ask for TAs and PCC but I guess it is the case for CAS reps too so I won’t be asking that in this thread.

I won’t post all of what I had written before as I don’t have time and quite truthfully have forgotten and I’m not even sure I can remember all my questions.:o Anyway the last cruise I racked up more point than I ever have in the past as I budgeted a bit more to spend in the casino than normal but mostly I just found a machine that kept paying me to play.:D Because of this I received a hot status which I need to find out a few things with this level.

1. Will this level get me a comped inside or at least a discount if I book with them?

2. Will it get me a drink card if I book with them or book on my own?

3. Also I already have an Alaskan cruise booked through my PCC and this was booked over a year ago and prices have gone up on the aft suite $2000 so could I at least get a drink card for that cruise? It’s not that I drink a lot as I only have maybe 2-3 drinks a night usually it just would be nice to have.

4. If I get a comped cabin or discount can I upgrade to a suite and get the new promo for UBP, UDP and $300 OBC?

5. The cruise I just took was in December and I am taking a cruise in July and not sure if I will book a cruise in December or not again this year. How long will my status hold up to take advantage of any of the perks?

Thank you for any information you can provide.

For starters, yes you will get a drink card in your cabin if you booked through CAS.

What they "offer" as far as comped or discounted cruises depends on your play from previous cruise (what they rate you on), as we'll as the ship and sail date you're inquiring on.

With the promotion for UBP, UDP and OBC you would have to be comped an ocean view at minimum to receive any/all of that promotion since its based on ocean view category and above. Also you only receive the promotion on your "comp" cabin type not on what you upgrade to should you choose to do so.

For example, I was comped an inside on the Escape for next year but upgraded to an Aft balcony. Since I only qualified for an inside I don't get any part of the promotion even though I paid the upgrade fee to an Aft. I hope I explained it right lol!

Best bet would be to simply call CAS and ask. A lot will depend on your previous play, what ship you're asking to sail on, how long that cruise is and how booked it is.

Usually when you book through CAS you will get a drink card. That level of drinks that card will give you depends on your tier status.

This I'm not sure about as it was booked through your PCC and not CAS. However, once on board you can always go to the Casino host and she can look up your tier and if you qualify she'll probably give you a drink card along with your players card.

You are welcome to pay to upgrade from whatever CAS comps you, however the only promos you're entitled to are the comps that come with the cabin CAS actually comped you....not whatever you upgraded to.

Evaluation period is April 1, 2014 – March 31, 2015. Tier levels are based on Reward Points earned within our 12 month evaluation period. Reward Points earned between April 1st- March 31st of the previous year determines the player tier level for the upcoming year until the next evaluation period. You can always tier higher during the year by cruising, playing and earning Reward Points that will upgrade you to the next level before the annual evaluation. Tier Levels are reevaluated each year based on the Reward Points earned within the 12 month evaluation period. Bonus and adjusted points are not considered in tier evaluation.

Thank you for any information you can provide.

Hope that helps some,

Harriet

As others have said give them a call - but as an FYI we called after obtaining HOT status on a single cruise (less than $200 in, hit a $4k jackpot and recycled their $$ for the rest of the cruise and still left with about $4500)

We were comped an interior on Getaway for 3 (kids sail free was on) and able to upgrade to a OV or balcony for $189/$199 for each of the 1st 2 passengers. We picked the OV because we require an accessible and there aren't any accessible balconies on Getaway for more than 2 passengers  For the square footage difference between an interior accessible and an OV accessible (rumour has it they're 500'ish sq ft) was definitely worth it. Also got the casino drink card for the 1st 2 passengers and a free specialty dinner thrown in along with a $25 OBC (oooh ahhhh)

Final price for 3 in an OV port fees, taxes & prepaid grats - $979

Thanks all that helps a lot.:) I guess I just have to try to call when at work as they are on EST and I am on PST. The other problem is that I only get 1/2 hr. for lunch so hopefully will get through right away.

7 a.m your time is 10 a.m. CAS time. 6 a.m. your time is 9 a.m. CAS time. At that time it's usually easy to get a hold of them. Call before work!

CAS is open from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. EST time.

Keep us updated!

This kinda sucks for me in this case as we took a cruise in December and will be taking one in July so they won't be combined.... sigh... oh well.

Maybe I will have to take another cruise in December so that those two will be combined.;) So, if I were to take a cruise July & December 2015 those points are combined. But we are not going to take another cruise vacation until at the earliest December 2016 or (shudder) maybe not until July 2017. Would the points that I rack up in 2015 work for that far out?

This might work for others but I definitely am NOT a morning person. I get up at 6:00-6:15 and out the door to work at 7:00. I may have to wait until the next day of MLK day to call.:( I don't really want to wait that long but I know if I have DH call he won't think of all the questions I would ask and he isn't great on details.;)

If you want to get a discounted cruise, or maybe even really cheap, I would suggest you find 20 minutes one morning before going to work.

For free or almost free, I'd get up at 4 a.m. Hey, we all have to make sacrifices for what we want!
