Has anyone stayed here? We need to get from the airport to here and then from here to the Pan Am cruise port. Anyone know how much those taxi rides are going to cost? Also - is this a nice establishment? Is it a safe area?

Yes we have stayed there and it is a great place. Nice grounds to walk around, nice beach, nice pool area. The Taxi from the airport to there should be $15 plus a $2 fuel charge plus $1 per bag (not including bags you hold on your laps) for up to 5 people (not per person) for instance... if you have 2 people each with 2 bags it will be...15+2+4= $21 total plus tip. Taxis are regulated and you can find the fare rate at Puerto rico day trips dot com then search taxi rates. Up to 5 people can ride in taxi for that price... extra people are $2 max of 7 people per taxi. From hotel to pier should be about $3 cheaper.

We stayed there 2 nights last year before our cruise. Loved the hotel and the location. We were in the main building, there is another building across the street (there is skyway on the second level) and heard the rooms were smaller there.

 

The pool area was fabulous and the crashing waves were great to listen to. There is also a small lagoon beach if you feel the need to swim in salt water as I always do.

 

We went out walking at night an felt perfectly safe. Only till about 11 pm though, not sure about later on.

 

Taxi from the airport was around $20 and took about 15 minutes, we found it relatively cheap for the distance traveled. There is a dispatcher at the airport that will give you a paper with the price so there is no haggling with the driver.

 

Taxi from the hotel to the port was about $16 and took about 2 minutes, we found it very expensive for the distance traveled. We did check at the hotel and because of the zone pricing, this was the real price. This was for the PanAm pier. If traveling on Carnival you will be leaving from OSJ. Taxi fare is the same though, even though it's a lot further.

 

If I were to do it again, I'd try to find another couple to split the cab fare to the port as pricing is per cab not per person.
