Cabin assignments for "guarantee" cabins

The last time we cruised (6 months ago) we didn't get our cabin assignment until the week of the cruise. Less than a week. Can't remember the exact number of days. But we did get a nice upgrade.

Princess has many categories of Balcony cabins (it can vary on each ship) usually the best deck, most central balconies are category BA, next best, BB, BC etc. BF is the lowest balcony category and on many ships there are only a few balcony cabins in the BF category (you can google deck plans for your ship to see the various cabins).

 

BF just means that your minimum cabin will be category BF, but you may be assigned any balcony cabin, so you may get assigned a BA or BB.

 

As to guaranteed "Boyfriend (BF)....guess that's a whole different type of cruise!

We got our cabin assignment on 01/21 for our upcoming cruise leaving this Wednesday 01/28th. We had booked a IA gty and that is what we got. It is one of the sideway IA's midship. It appears to be a perfect location:) No visit from the upgrade fairy this time but we are happy with what we got. Midship location was our priority and that is where we are.

I got antsy and called. I have a guarantee and it's four days out from sailing. The rep told me there were a "lot" of "24 hour" notices left since they were still doing upgrades and moving people around. So maybe I'll hear the day before I sail.

We booked the lowest guarantee inside for our cruise next month on the CB. Don't really care where I rest my head, saving the money for "fun in the sun". Will be interesting to see Cabin Roulette and what we end up with!! Regardless, sun in February is a good thing!!!

We had a cabin assignment L242 and just received an upgrade to a mini suite guarantee. So, now we will do the waiting game. It is kind of exciting to sign in every day and check if it is there!
