Back from Breakaway CTN - Daily Scans and Observations

I just got back from the Friday to Sunday "Cruise to Nowhere" on the Breakaway and I wanted to post here with some observations and things I noticed that got asked a lot about, before hand.

Smoking

It was completely NOT enforced that only players were allowed to smoke in the Casino. Often times, people sat at machines just hanging out and having a cigarette. I also wanted to note that the dailies still state that smoking is allowed on balconies (which you can see in my scans). I know of at least one instance where referencing the daily got someone out of a fee and/or scolding. The only time it was mentioned that smoking on balconies was not allowed was during the Mandatory Drill.

Destination

We sailed down as far as Ocean City, Maryland. Pools and hot tubs were heated and open. Our second day, it got up to 65 degrees and we were tempted to partake but opted against it. There were some people using these facilities though, for sure.

Vibe/Crowd

Yeah. This was totally and definitely a booze cruise. I saw a lot of really, really drunk people on this sailing. One that took the cake was a well-dressed woman, who literally was laying across the floor and had to be pulled in, hands first, into the elevator by her friends. It was insane! Also, we had drunken hecklers during our Mandatory Drill.

Food/Shows

"Rock of Ages" was awesome and Moderno was great - not at all crowded on a Friday night. The buffet food was hit/miss but O'Sheehans was a definite win. Always packed with excellent wings. Yum!

Overall

It was a great time and I would absolutely go on it again, knowing 100% percent what I was getting into. It's a great cruise to take with a group of people and even though everything was really full, people were generally nice and willing to share seats, tables, etc.

Please let me know if you have any questions!

Thanks for your comments and the Dailies. I love a CTN and can't wait for the 1/30 one!

I don't remember Moderno having a lunch buffet before--will have to check it out!

Kind of funny that their own new smoking policy is not reflected in the Dailies.

Thanks for the thoughts! I have never been all that interested in the BA but since we're booked on a CTN for next January I am reading up on it, especially the CTN experience.:) I am not too keen going on a ship that large (I was on an aircraft carrier in the Navy) but figure it won't be too bad for 2 days.

Do you know how quickly the Spa passes sold out in? We're on the ship for Valentines day and couldnt get a spa balcony. Im assuming it would sell out but wanted to get a feel how early we would have to get there.

Also, what time did you board the ship?

Just a quick question, did you notice if cigarettes were for sale in the shops during the CTN? I usually bring a carton home for friends. When I went on the Royal Quantum CTN in Nov. They had neither cigarettes or liquor for sale.

Thanks!

I can't believe that you would put my business out there! So what I had to be pulled into the elevator by my hands?? However, I am glad you noticed how well dressed I was. :D ;) :p LMFAO only kidding that was not me but couldn't resist!!

Anyway, DH and I had an awesome time and came home and booked the 1/30. If the 2/13 wasn't so much more money we would have done that one also.

The only thing I didn't think was worth the money was the ice bar but at least we can say we experienced it.

Unfortunately, did not partake in the spa BUT we were able to board at around 12pm. There were also ladies from the Spa with a table setup, selling services, at the terminal. Rooms weren't ready but the steward let us keep out luggage in the closet while he tidied up! It seems that a lot of people boarded later on in the day, with most getting on around 2-ish - likely after work. I took the day off for that.

Although it is a huge ship my dh and I never felt like it was overwhelming. We were able to find everything pretty quickly and never got lost trying to do so. :D

Yep! Full duty-free shopping was available at around 7pm on the night of sailing.

And Theresa, hahaha!! There were certainly a lot of well-dressed, yet unstable-on-their-feet people! I may or may not have been one of them myself. :p

Definitely agree with this! The only time the size of the ship really "hit" me was when walking aft to forward, and vice-versa, on the cabin-only decks to visit friends. When in the public areas and outdoors, I didn't even realize how much I was walking. It was also really easy to find everything pretty much from the get-go.

Wow we boarded immediately and were able to go straight to our cabins and drop off our luggage. I wonder why you were told no

The spa passes sold out, and the spa was super-booked on Saturday.

My hubby and I get passes from the casino, and there wasn't anywhere to sit/stand/or relax at by 11AM.

I told hubby I would be really super-annoyed if I had paid for the passes and had to deal with the madness.

Oh! We were able to leave our luggage in the room and explore. Our rooms just weren't ready until about 1:30pm.

Unfortunately, didn't book the 1/30, since I have a 9-day sailing on the Gem in March, but we are already planning for a friend's birthday on the CTN in December. Would be GREAT if they did them more often...and during the warmer months.

Did you book the 1/30 also?

Had to go down to the Cruise Consultant desk to get the pin. Guest Services turned me away. :p

Oooo, just thought of a question (who will answer first;))- were Latitudes pins in your cabin waiting for you or did you have to go to guest services to get them?
