Ice Bar on Breakaway

How does the Ice Bar work? Can you make a reservation or is it on a first come first serve basis? Can those under 18 go into the bar?

Thanks!

You can make a reservation on the ship, it's $20 per person and the pricing includes 2 drinks and use of the parka and gloves.

No one under 18 is allowed in.

The ice bar is kept at 17 degrees and I lasted about 30 minutes last week wearing flip flops and I didn't think I would ever feel my toes again :)

  • 4 weeks later...

Maybe a wierd question, but does anyone else get concerned about lice from everyone sharing those parkas? Maybe it's just me and my old days as a stylist and knowing that sharing hats/hoods is a good way to transfer.... but.... just saying.....

Good question, we will back on her in about 5 weeks so we will make a note to checkout the setup - they hang those parka just outside the Ice Bar on a rack, and I don't recall seeing them being cleaned in between use. Not that there was ever a line outside of folks waiting to get in - not while we're passing by the area nor watching while we're at the nearby casino.

If OP wanted to know what it's like (being from MA & now in the middle of another blizzard in the New England States) - just take one's favorite booze, put on a parka and step outside for 15 minutes and enjoy the drink ... would that simulation work ?? :D

Hi Lisa....miss you!

Under 18 is a no-no....LOL :D

I can only speak from experience on the Epic, however we had no problem with taking our 11 y/o into the ice bar with us to share the experience. They supplied two different versions of a non alcoholic drink for him. Can't remember if he was reduced charge. Probably not.

He sat there and ate the glass afterwards, still makes me cringe now.

are the parkas required? like, can i bring my own? or go without? 17 degrees doesn't seem too bad to me. that's if we even decide to go - dh and i don't drink and are considering a trip to the ice hotel in quebec one day anyway.

You can wear your own or go without. Your call...

Absolutely! The parkas are washed but I thought about it. But then, it is a possibility in the chairs you sit on in the Atrium - even airline head rests... It's all about perspective, statistics and your tolerance for risk levels.

Breaking news ice bar is free today just take your drink out side on the sail way its the biggest ice bar ever. Why pay when its free today.
OMG, EXTRA ... EXTRA ... Winter parka is definitely required, dress in extra (thermal) layers and HOLD on to your hats & optional: insulated gloves. Watchout for black ice on the slippery deck

Muster station drills today should be fun @ 2:30 PM or so if held outdoors down on deck 6. :D
