Curious about cruises Posted January 23, 2015 #1 Share Posted January 23, 2015 Is it feasible to catch the San Pedro Belize Express Water Taxi at 9 am and return on the 3 p.m. taxi if our port day is 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Central Time) on the Dawn in February? Are there local snorkel companies available on Ambergris Caye once we got there? Given this time frame, does it make any sense to try to shore fish once we got there? If so, does anyone know if this is the best way to get a one-day fishing license: https://www.coastalzonebelize.org/ ? Thank you!
Rare crewsweeper Posted January 23, 2015 #2 Share Posted January 23, 2015 Belize is on Central Standard time same as NOLA.It's probably doable time wise. Just note the time the 3PM water taxi leaves Caye Caulker (3:30 or 3:45?) and is due to arrive in Belize City. I'd guess you'd get back to Belize City around 4:15P or 4:30P. But it also depends on what time your ship's last tender leaves. Typically this is an hour before the scheduled departure time as it's a 15-20 tender ride and ships usually try to get a full passenger count a half hour before departure. So if you're scheduled to get back to Belize City at 5P, you might be cutting it close. It's a 5-10 minute walk for either water taxi pier. You alternative is to take the earlier taxi, 1:30ish. But that should still leave you with time to walk around and grab a bite to eat. Not sure about shore fishing licenses or best spot to do so.
