Grits53 Posted January 28, 2015 #1 Share Posted January 28, 2015 I've been to Uxmal 3 times and loved the fact that I was able to climb the one pyramid (not the main one, but the other one) and go into the rooms or chambers in other structures. We will be taking two children (ages 12 & 15) to Uxmal the first of March, and I am hoping they will be able to climb and touch the ruins. Can anyone tell me if this is still allowed? Thank you. marshhawk Posted April 5, 2015 #2 Share Posted April 5, 2015 Dont know when you went , but we were there in 2013, and you could still climb the pyramid. I chose not to, as my ankle was very swollen. But my friends did some of it, and had a wonderful time.
Grits53 Posted April 9, 2015 Author #3 Share Posted April 9, 2015 Thank you, Marshhawk. We were there the first of March, and you can still climb all the structures except the main "Pyramid of the Magician". :)
AloeVera Posted May 8, 2015 #4 Share Posted May 8, 2015 We were able to climb most of the structures (2014). Great view from the castillo!
maldenmusic Posted May 10, 2015 #5 Share Posted May 10, 2015 When we were there in June 2014 you could climb on almost everything. This surprised me because it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and they try to keep historic places intact.
WomanWillSail Posted June 6, 2015 #6 Share Posted June 6, 2015 As of this writing (June 2015) you can still climb much of Uxmal. The most notable exception is the pyramid of the magician, the one at the entrance. That one you can only get on if you are Jennifer Lopez filming a music video - then the authorities will bend over backwards to make it happen. portocaller Posted June 14, 2015 #7 Share Posted June 14, 2015 I am so glad to hear you can still climb. My son is looking forward to visiting Uxmal more than anything else. His excitement is contagious.
