Thanks for the info Chris. We will make sure to check out Oliver & Twist. We have been on this ship before but have never checked it out. You have any recommendations for shore excursions?

We didn't take any ship excursions. In st. Martin we rented a van and went to Grande Case for lunch and a few drinks. great bar called Love - right on the water. In San Juan and St. Kitts we just walked off did a little shopping and of course a few drinks. Labadee - beach day:)

Thanks for the information. We usually try to do at least one excursion during our cruises. Not sure what we will do this time. Might do a zip-line this time.

Has anyone stayed in a promenade room on the ship? We booked one this cruise. Any pros or cons to staying in this type of room?

I'm not on your cruise, but I saw this post and thought I'd share my opinion. I love Promenade cabins on the Freedom class ships. I usually try to get one on deck 7, mid-ship, for what I think is the best view for people watching. Otherwise, you might try to find a Promenade cabin that's across from a particular venue such as Café Promenade.

We're going to be sailing on Independence of the Seas next weekend and staying in the Ben & Jerry's "Sweet", the Promenade cabin that's above Ben & Jerry's on the Royal Promenade. It offers special benefits including free ice cream and access to the "Cowcierge" Lounge in exchange for the view of cow butts outside the window. :)

The only "con" to a Promenade cabin is that there are cabins across the way that can look into your cabin if the curtains are open. You can gain some privacy while keeping some light from the Royal Promenade by closing the sheer curtains. For complete privacy, close the opaque curtains.

I hope you enjoy your cruise!

Hey Marc,

Thanks for sharing your opinion about the promenade room. I think we are going to like it too. We are staying on deck 7 mid-ship. Also, thanks for the heads up about the privacy issue. We will be sure not to run around the room without clothes on if the drapes are open. lol Hope you enjoy your cruise next week. Thanks again!

Hi Jim and Bruce! I'm Karen and my husband and I will also be on this cruise. If you go to the roll call for this ship and sailing you will find plenty of others that will also be on this sailing. Happy Cruising! :)

Hi Karen! Thanks for the info. We will check the other roll call out. It won't be long now! :D
