thewolffs Posted January 30, 2015 #1 Share Posted January 30, 2015 I had read there were no butterflies in Nov. Wondering if they have any now? How much is the admission? Was thinking of going to Le Galion Beach and stopping by the butterfly farm after. Thanks!
Majestic-NJ Posted February 15, 2015 #2 Share Posted February 15, 2015 No replies? My wife is interested in this as well. We are going in April on Independence of the Seas.
thewolffs Posted February 15, 2015 Author #3 Share Posted February 15, 2015 We went and it was great. The beach there is perfect for kids! We grabbed a taxi that happened to be driving by for $5. Getting one back to the ship was harder. We had to give the bartender a $20 deposit to call a taxi for us. I guess people in the past would get in another taxi. gumballz Posted February 15, 2015 #4 Share Posted February 15, 2015 We were told last week, when we were in St Maarten (2-7-15), , that the butterfly farm took a nasty hit with the last hurricane and they lost most of the butterflies & facility. They are working to rebuild it.
navybankerteacher Posted February 15, 2015 #5 Share Posted February 15, 2015 When we were at Dawn Beach in January there were clouds of little butterflies in the air -- maybe they escaped from the farm during the hurricane.
thewolffs Posted February 15, 2015 Author #6 Share Posted February 15, 2015 I was just there on Feb 5th. They said they're just now built back up. Lots of butterflies. Go earlier in the day and wear bright colors.
gumballz Posted February 15, 2015 #7 Share Posted February 15, 2015 Hmm, weird. I was just relaying what I was told by our guide. Hopefully he was wrong. :)
thewolffs Posted February 15, 2015 Author #8 Share Posted February 15, 2015 I'm not sure what it was like before, but there were tons of beautiful butterflies. It was a quick visit. We only spent an hour or so, but had kids with us anxious to go to the beach.
